The opportunity

An exciting opportunity for a qualified financial accountant to join our Group Accounting and Consolidation Team. You will play a key role in ensuring the achievement of the Group’s reporting deadlines and financial reporting requirements, and supporting the broader Group Finance team.

Your new role

In this position you will:

  • Demonstrate a good level of technical expertise, focusing on the QBE Group balance sheet and associated results, support stakeholders through identifying and addressing accounting and reporting issues, and offer practical alternatives to address problems and/or provide innovative solutions.

  • Ensure achievement of the Group’s reporting deadlines and financial reporting requirements in a compliant, timely manner, whilst ensuring the outputs are of the highest quality

  • Monitor the effectiveness of Group Finance controls, and implement change where required, documenting processes, systems and judgements to the highest levels.

  • Create a real and active partnership with the QBE Divisions, providing 'real time' support and analysis.

  • Play an active role in the planning, execution and completion of the Group’s consolidated financial reporting process and other reporting and analysis requirements.

  • Support the Group Finance team as a whole, including leading, training and coaching other members of the team.

The recruitment process will consist of 2-3 interviews, psychometric assessments and background checks.

About you

To succeed in this role you will possess:

  • Qualified with post qualification experience in a professional services environment (CPA/CA or equivalent experience).

  • Excellent accounting skills, including a good understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Corporations Act and ASX listing rules.

  • Proven experience in the preparation of consolidated financial statements.

  • An understanding of financial services industry and general insurance in particular

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities and an ability to work systematically through complex matters

You will be an excellent team player with high attention to detail and a willingness and desire to learn. You will possess the ability to work independently and flexibly, using a high degree of initiative to identify and resolve issues.
