The opportunity

We’re seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to join QBE as our Group Head of Funding—a high-impact role reporting directly to the Group Treasurer. With global accountability, you’ll shape and drive our Capital Markets, Bank Funding/Facilities, and Banking Relationships strategy across the enterprise.

This is a rare opportunity to influence the financial future of a global insurer, working at the intersection of strategy, execution, and stakeholder engagement.

Your new role

As the Group Head of Funding, you’ll be the face of QBE’s Group Treasury—representing us to regulators, rating agencies, capital investors, and senior internal stakeholders including Group Boards and executive committees. You’ll be a key member of the Group Treasury leadership team, partnering closely with the Group Treasurer and Group CFO to deliver on our global treasury vision.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Shaping and executing QBE’s Global Treasury strategy in collaboration with senior leadership.

  • Leading negotiations with banking partners and capital markets participants.

  • Representing QBE at the highest levels—internally and externally—on funding and capital matters.

  • Designing and implementing strategies for credit facilities and bank relationships.

  • Driving global development of financial market instruments and funding decisions.

  • Managing financial risk and ensuring alignment with QBE’s strategic objectives.

About you

You’re a seasoned finance and markets leader with a proven ability to navigate complexity and deliver strategic outcomes. With deep expertise in treasury markets risk management—particularly in cash, funding, and FX—you bring a high level of technical competence and commercial insight. A confident negotiator, you thrive in high-stakes environments, demonstrating resilience and sound judgment to drive optimal outcomes. Your elevated commercial acumen enables you to align funding decisions with broader strategic goals, ensuring value creation and long-term impact.

You’ll bring:

  • Extensive expertise in treasury markets risk management, especially in cash/funding and FX.

  • Prior experience in the insurance sector or a strong understanding of industry dynamics will be highly advantageous.

  • Proven success in leading high-stakes negotiations and managing senior stakeholder relationships.

  • A strategic mindset with strong commercial acumen and decision-making capability.

  • A commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement.

  • A passion for leadership and building high-performing teams.
