The opportunity

QBE is hiring a Group Head of Strategic Risk & Risk Culture to lead our global risk strategy and champion a culture of excellence, resilience, and innovation. Join us in shaping the future of risk.

Your new role

As the Group Head of Strategic Risk & Risk Culture, you’ll be at the forefront of QBE’s strategic direction—challenging and supporting executive leaders, overseeing stress testing programs, and ensuring our risk culture not only meets regulatory expectations but also empowers our business to achieve its strategic objectives. You’ll work closely with other executives, including the Group Chief Enterprise Risk Officer, Divisional Chief Risk Officers (CRO’s), and heads of Financial Performance, Risk Management, and Insurance Risk, influencing decision-making at the highest level.

  • Lead the identification, management, and monitoring of strategic risk and risk culture across QBE Group and divisions.

  • Advise and challenge business leaders on strategic risk, with a focus on financial performance.

  • Define, implement, and continuously enhance the Groups stress testing and risk culture framework, championing a culture of accountability, transparency, and ethical decision-making.

  • Prepare and present high-impact reports and briefings to the Board and senior management, enabling informed oversight of strategic risk and risk culture.

  • Serve as the primary contact for strategic risk and risk culture matters with regulators.

  • Mentor, develop and retain top-tier talent, fostering a high-performance culture aligned with QBE’s global risk operating model.

About you

  • Proven executive leadership in risk management within complex, multi-geography insurance or financial services environments.

  • Extensive experience engaging with Boards, Executive Committees, and regulators.

  • Experience in general insurance Line 2 Risk with a strong understanding of underwriting financial drivers

  • Outstanding strategic vision, analytical acumen, and ability to challenge and influence at the highest levels.

  • Deep expertise in risk culture, stress testing, and regulatory frameworks.

  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
