Job Description

About the team

The Aviation Growth and Group Strategy Team are at the forefront of revenue creation for the Airport.

The Aviation Growth Team works closely with airline partners (existing and targeted) to attract new routes, drive pax growth and deliver commercial outcomes for SYD. The Group Strategy Team leads initiatives that support Senior Management consider issues and opportunities aligned to organisational priorities.

The Group Strategy Team is responsible for

  • Monitoring of SYD’s corporate strategy, and strategic opportunities ensuring timely and clear delivery of insight progress and key risk mitigations
  • Collaborating across the business on multi-dimensional issues to ensure
  •  Championing excellence in thought, analysis, continuous improvement, and innovation across SYD
  • Supporting Senior Management to ensure appropriate, high quality, resources are available to assist in strategic business case development and strategy execution across business groups at SYD

About the role

As a Strategy Analyst, your primary responsibility is to support the development, implementation, and evaluation of strategic initiatives within the organisation. You will conduct thorough research, analyse data, and collaborate with various stakeholders to identify key trends, opportunities, and challenges. Your insights and recommendations will be instrumental in helping to shape the organisation's long-term direction and competitive advantage.

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to work on

  • Providing strategic, commercial, and financial support for key initiatives.
  • Work with senior management and teams to identify priorities, assess risks, and develop growth strategies.
  • Help create short-term and long-term strategies aligned with SYD's goals.
  • Assist in developing business cases, market strategies, and revenue plans.
  • Support project planning and tracking progress.
  • Evaluate and improve existing initiatives.
  • Conduct market and competitor research to find growth opportunities
  • Use data to support strategic decisions.
  • Perform analyses to evaluate project feasibility
  • Assist in assessing the commercial viability of initiatives.
  • Identify and address risks.
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders to support projects.
  • Ensure effective collaboration and facilitate meetings and workshops.
  • Assist in managing leadership and shareholder relationships.
     

About you

We are seeking a candidate with an undergraduate degree in aviation, commerce, finance, economics, or accounting, and 3-4 years of experience in top-tier advisory firms, investment banks, accounting firms, or strategic/commercial finance teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic record, excellent analytical skills in data analysis, financial modelling, valuations, and forecasting, and experience in strategic planning and business case development. Key skills include effective communication, project management, problem-solving, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma and knowledge of airport and aviation business drivers are advantageous. The role requires the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
