The Opportunity
We are seeking talented hardware Systems Engineers to support the Battlespace Communication System (BCS) Program. BCS is a next generation networking product that is the centerpiece for multiple projects and campaigns. The BCS combines both developmental and off-the-shelf hardware and software to provide world leading communications capability for ADF personnel. It can be rapidly deployed from anywhere, and its modular design provides a flexible, scalable solution that can be customized for various mission needs.
We have a range of opportunities available as we plan for future work. These roles will see you applying your skills to either our core product for Army, upgrading the capability to integrate with related maritime communications projects, or modernization of the joint air battlespace management system.
Responsibilities
As a BCS Systems Engineer you will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team charged with owning and delivering products to our customers across the full product lifecycle. As a part of this team, you will have an evolving set of responsibilities as the project progresses, including:
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering principles and lifecycle management.
  • Experience developing and executing against Systems Engineering artefacts including Systems Engineering Management Plan and Verification and Validation Plans.
  • Experience in utilising digital systems engineering tools such as DOORS.
  • Championing understanding and analysing customer requirements alongside the development of innovative solutions that ensure the full product lifecycle is optimized.
  • Coordinating with other design and specialty disciplines (e.g. electronic, software, safety, security and support system engineering) to ensure that the team's products are properly integrated into the solution and delivered in a way that delights the customer.
  • Verifying and validating designs and products to ensure they meet operational and functional requirements.
  • Work with the project team to ensure the engineering scope is delivered within the cost and schedule constraints of the project, adhering to quality guidelines.
  • Development of engineering documentation and baseline management of system hardware infrastructure.
  • The ability to communicate and collaborate with a diverse team, in a conscientious and inclusive way.

Experience/Qualifications
Essential:
  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline, Information Technology related fields or equivalent industry experience.
  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements.

  • Proven experience in providing direction and/or delegating work effectively within engineering teams to ensure project objectives are met.

Desirable:
  • Experience with complex communications systems deployed in challenging environments.
  • Experience in writing technical reports and developing documentation related to electronic, mechanical and RF systems including but not limited to work instructions and test procedures.
  • Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ, Electrical) in Electrical Engineering, or eligibility to obtain.
