The Head of Commercial Finance is responsible for the financial partnership of Red Bull Australia’s operational teams, through the preparation, presentation and influence of valuable analytical insights which encourage more informed decision making. The purpose of the role is to ensure financial stewardship of the Business through engaging in cross functional decisions which will ultimately impact the profitability and cash flow of the organisation.
Job DescriptionSTRATEGIC BUISNESS PARTNERSHIP
Lead commercial finance function as key partner to Australian Leadership Team and their direct reports
Provide strategic insights and decision support to sales and marketing and ops teams
Challenge and influence business decisions through data-driven recommendations, particularly on volume and trade spend. Provide suggestions and insights for long term sustainable growth
Drive customer profitability and business partner commercial acumen through:
Understanding and managing key trade terms agreements and evaluating joint business partnership initiatives
Analyzing ROI on trade investments and assessing new product launch impacts
Prepares scenarios and simulations with the input from the budget owners and models the revenue and/or efficiency impact
Collaboration with Revenue Growth Manager to optimize customer profitability
Supports the budget owners in budget reallocations and ensure overall budget adherence
FP&A and Controlling
Guarantees full compliance with the Group Controlling guideline
Lead annual business planning and monthly forecasting cycles
Coordinate bottom-up planning process aligned with group planning timetable
Coordinates the Business Plan/Revised Estimate data collection and data entry
Contributes to a high forecasting accuracy of business plans, revised estimates and long-term forecasts
Supports, challenges and influences the budget owners during the planning process, in alignment with business priorities
Prepare and present monthly financial performance to Leadership Team, including:
Co-ordinating monthly reporting timetable and deliverables with business partners to support P&L management
MTD, YTD, and FY performance analysis, including market share and competitive landscape. Evaluate year-to-go estimates and risk/opportunity assessments, providing strategic recommendations
Drive P&L ownership and accountability across the business
SYSTEMS AND REPORTING
Preparation of regular and ad hoc ALT, Regional and Group presentations
Responsible for financial management reporting from various sources including BI (Business Intelligence) and Hyperion Financial Management
Manage critical business tools, including CPM Tool (Customer Profitability Management) and BI Input Forms and BI Reporting
Ensures a timely distribution of financial information (plan & actual) to every budget holder by sending out reports, by allowing system access and by presenting the information in regular meetings
Gives clear reporting of customer performance vs the Business Plan or Revised Estimate, via outputs from CPM Tool to the respective budget owners
Gives clear reporting of activity based projects or Indirects performance within BI Reporting to budget owners
Drive efficiency in reporting processes to maximize time for analysis and insights
TEAM LEADERSHIP
Provide strategic direction, energy and thought leadership to the Commercial Finance team, building trust, confidence and belief in our future vision
Build a high performing team culture through coaching and development
Manage team recruitment, performance, and capability building
Foster strong cross functional relationships, particularly with Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain
Drive continuous process improvements and best practices across the function.
8+ years’ demonstrated experience in a commercial finance role within a complex FMCG business (sales commercial finance experience preferred)
Ideally 5+ years’ direct people leadership, demonstrating experience in coaching for performance and setting vision and expectations for the team
Degree in Finance with relevant post graduate qualification (CPA / CA / MBA)
Advanced excel and modelling skills. Proficient MS PowerPoint knowledge. Familiarity with any integrated business analysis tool is a strong plus (SAP BI / Cognos / Hyperion) as well as external business tools (Aztec / AC Nielsen)
Excellent stakeholder management skills, at all levels, paired with outstanding communication and presentation skills
Strong negotiation and influencing skills. Ability to hold people to set recommendations, guidelines or processes
