The Head of Communications is a senior leadership position at Tyro, responsible for shaping and delivering our communications vision across internal and external audiences. In this pivotal role, you will work closely with the CEO, executive and senior leadership teams, and Board to strengthen Tyro’s corporate reputation, engage key stakeholders, and position the company as a leader in the payments and fintech sectors.
This is a high-profile, influential role for a communications professional with exceptional judgement, strategic insight, and a proven ability to advise senior executives in complex, high-stakes environments.
What you'll do:Strategic Communications Leadership
Lead the design and execution of Tyro’s integrated communications strategy to support corporate objectives, enhance brand reputation, and build market presence.
Serve as the primary communications advisor to the CEO, executives, and senior leaders on corporate profile building, strategic messaging, and reputational opportunities.
External Communications & Media Relations
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key business, finance, and technology journalists, as well as industry stakeholders.
Manage all corporate media engagement, including ASX announcements, product launches, and thought leadership campaigns.
Oversee messaging for half-year and full-year results, in partnership with Investor Relations, including media releases, presentations, and the Annual Report.
Issues & Crisis Management
Lead Tyro’s issues management and crisis communication response, ensuring timely, accurate, and aligned messaging.
Act as the final approval point for all external communications, including media, social channels, and executive speaking engagements.
Internal Communications & Culture
Oversee all-company communications, including monthly town halls, weekly newsletters, and intranet content, to drive engagement, transparency, and connection across Tyro.
Partner with senior leaders to ensure clear and consistent messaging during periods of change.
Executive & Brand Storytelling
Craft compelling narratives for executives, including speeches, talking points, and thought leadership content that positions Tyro as a fintech and payments innovator.
Identify and manage corporate award submissions and strategic profile-raising opportunities.
Senior Corporate Communications leadership experience, ideally in finance, technology, or other regulated industries.
Experience working in or with ASX-listed companies, with a strong grasp of disclosure requirements and investor-facing communications.
Proven success advising and influencing CEOs, executives, and Boards.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences.
Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with a track record of building trusted relationships that deliver business results.
Agility, resilience, and sound judgement in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
