The Role
You will lead Block's Compliance Partnerships Program, and report to the Head of Business Product Compliance and Partnerships. You will be responsible for ensuring Block maintains strong, cohesive relationships with its partner banks and strategic partners from a compliance perspective, as well as overseeing the process for managing compliance risk of our third party vendors. You will lead a team, develop a strategy for the Program, oversee our engagements with current and prospective partners, and drive compliance initiatives that have company-wide impact. You will support Block's compliance vision by working together with business stakeholders and other compliance and counsel personnel to guide the compliance program forward, focusing on partner and program risk and due diligence.

You Will
  • Develop and maintain Block's strategic vision for its Compliance Partnerships program
  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders to optimize Block's process for engaging with current and prospective partners on compliance-related matters
  • Ensure that Block conducts adequate oversight and due diligence on the Compliance programs of current and prospective partners
  • Ensure that Block's partner banks are enabled to conduct adequate oversight of Block's compliance program, responding to due diligence requests timely and accurately
  • Present Block's compliance program to current and prospective partners
  • Lead a team responsible for understanding and documenting our partner program requirements, and ensuring appropriate awareness to other Compliance and Business teams.
  • Manage projects that span several departments, partners, product offerings, and international regions
  • Coordinate your team's activities with the other functions in the broader Compliance and Business Functions.
  • Review, understand and communicate complex regulatory requirements and work with Compliance Governance, Product Compliance Managers, Legal, and Network Operations to provide guidance and interpretation
  • Develop relationships with senior Compliance personnel at partner banks to facilitate strong and transparent collaboration
  • Provide advice and input of the design of Policies, Standards, Procedures, and controls
  • Contribute to special projects critical to the long-term success of Block's compliance program

You Have
  • 8+ years in a senior compliance role in the financial services sector
  • 3+ years of people management experience
  • Experience with building and maintaining credibility with business leads, external partners, and regulators through collaborative engagement
  • Knowledge and experience with building and running a compliance program
  • A deep understanding of the risks and regulations applicable to both consumer and commercial facing financial services and products
  • Experience with consumer protection, BSA/AML, sanctions, and other financial crimes compliance rules and regulations
  • Experience engaging in complex and sensitive negotiations and compliance program due diligence with diverse types of financial institutions
  • Strong ability to engage with and influence stakeholders and leadership to achieve results
  • Experience developing and coaching team members to develop an enterprise mindset

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
