The Senior Credit Risk Manager plays a key leadership role within Tyro’s second line of defence, responsible for ensuring effective oversight of Tyro’s credit risk frameworks, portfolio performance, and regulatory compliance. The role is responsible for underwriting standards, credit decisioning, collections and provisioning. This includes independent credit assessment, portfolio monitoring, policy implementation, and regulatory compliance. It partners closely with Product and Finance to maintain Tyro’s credit risk within appetite and ensures compliance with APS 220 Credit Risk Management and Tyro’s internal standards.
What you'll do:Credit Risk Framework and Policy
Lead the design, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Tyro’s Credit Risk Management Framework and associated policies.
Ensure frameworks and procedures remain aligned with APS 220 and the Risk Management Strategy.
Provide second-line oversight and challenge to first-line credit and lending operations.
Develop and monitor credit risk metrics and thresholds consistent with the Board-approved Risk Appetite Statement.
Portfolio Oversight and Risk Insights
Monitor and report on the quality and performance of Tyro’s credit portfolios.
Analyse arrears, provisioning, loss trends, and write-offs; identify emerging risks and recommend mitigations.
Support stress testing, scenario analysis, and portfolio segmentation analysis.
Assist in the development of Board and BRC reporting packs.
Oversee the development and implementation of effective debt collection strategies to maximise recovery and minimise losses.
Credit Risk Governance and Reporting
Lead the preparation of credit-specific reporting for the Executive Risk Committee, and Lending Forum.
Oversee provisioning models and ensure adequate governance around impairment recognition and write-off processes.
Regulatory Compliance and Assurance
Ensure compliance with APRA Prudential Standards (APS 220, CPS 220) and ASIC lending requirements.
Liaise with regulators, internal and external auditors on credit-related reviews.
Support CPS 220 Risk Management Declaration processes.
Leadership and Capability Development
Mentor the Credit Risk Manager.
Contribute to a high-performing and collaborative risk culture.
At least 7 years’ experience in financial services, with a minimum of 5 years in a credit risk leadership role. Experience in fintech, non-bank lenders or challenger banks desirable.
Strong understanding of SME credit risk products, including unsecured and secured business lending.
Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality, insightful reporting.
Solid credit fundamentals and proven experience in a commercial lending environment.
Ability to perform in-depth analysis of financial statements, cash flow forecasts, business models, and sector dynamics to assess repayment capacity and overall creditworthiness.
Strong investigative, analytical and influencing skills, including experience in stress testing, scenario analysis and portfolio modelling to assess resilience under varying economic conditions.
Highly organised with ability to meet deadlines.
Advanced MS Office skills, particularly MS Excel.
