Description

Key responsibilities:

We’re looking for our technology leader to take the business into the next era. Rapid product and sales growth awaits us after a strong, stable period of delivery.

We’re small and agile. Our leaders present solutions, seek buy in, whilst getting involved and ensuring execution.

In the code

  • As a growing business, everyone gets stuck in, so we’d expect that this role will get their hands dirty, whilst managing the team, keeping a handle across different teams, projects and priorities.

Managing and mentoring

  • As a manager for our software engineers, integrations team, QAs and technical writer you’ll be responsible for ensuring the team has what they need to succeed (context, direction, coaching and more). A key facet of the role will be building relationships with stakeholders, ensuring that you build upon those as it’s served the business so well in continuity and scaling.

The team

  • Currently made up of six .NET engineers, one mobile flutter engineer, 2 QAs, and 2 integrations team members. This is augmented by offshore project teams (currently 2 teams).  As the manager of these teams you’ll need to balance the output, provide clarity on delivery timeframes for the business and look at ways to optimise our delivery across multiple products. We’re also hiring to keep up with an accelerated volume of change currently underway and coming in 2025. You’ll also have a dotted line managing Infrastructure to ensure the engineering team are set-up for success.

We currently have a transformation re-platforming project as well as a new product underway both working with separate offshore teams. In addition to this we have a maintenance team who are delivering features, integrations and resolving bugs. We’re hiring for software engineers, business analysts and QA to expedite our currently delivery and build out the teams’ capabilities.

We’re after a leader who wants to own the technical realm and have a say in product, someone who will still outperform all but the most senior individual contributors. Worked in SaaS, managed teams and what comes with that – from leading change management, prioritizing work with the GM, articulating product and technical roadmaps, velocity reporting, people management and resolving challenges.

What we’re looking for:

  • Management: You’ve got a good handle on managing different personalities. You challenge the status quo and aren’t a yes person – you can coach, but also direct to hit deadlines and work with stakeholders
  • Project management: Have a strong grasp of managing a roadmap and timelines, communicating effectively and delivering to agreed deadlines so set the business up for successful growth
  • Tech: Passionate about tech, confident with data, databases, and coding languages. You are ready to work with many integration patterns and collaborate on infrastructure requirements.
  • Solution Design: You can collaborate with the team to help them architect solutions, guiding when necessary and encouraging input from the team.
  • Technical Requirements: Detailed technical requirements are your second nature. You can coordinate between product and engineering domains to ensure your team and stakeholders are aligned.
  • Scaling: You’re comfortable running multiple projects, managing a wide ranging team of different personalities and skills and can present/communicate strong timelines which are realistic and achievable to enable the Sales function to scale effectively around new product development

Why you will love this role:

  • The opportunity to make a difference: we are not a large company tied down by bureaucracy, you can implement work quickly and see results
  • Own your role and the team’s execution: You’ll partner with the GM, product and support to understand the landscape and where efforts are needed. You’ll take that direction to scope and provide excellent detail for engineering to quickly deliver
  • Lots of opportunity to learn and grow:  You will be working with Transvirtual subject matter experts to ensure you can make an immediate impact. They are also very open to ideas and new initiatives that you come up with.
  • Friendly, hybrid international team: we are a fun team, headquartered in Australia, but also spread across the globe. You will get the chance to collaborate with multiple teams who are all inclusive and open.

Essential Skills / qualifications:

  • 7+ years in C#,.NET and SQL (MSSQL preferred) development with extensive knowledge of software engineering best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Demonstrable management of a team
  • Experience in multiple infrastructure set-ups, both cloud and dedicated
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for team management and board level presentations
  • Have a relevant tertiary qualification

Desired skills

  • Have exposure to different working methodologies in multiple teams to understand how to flex process to maintain focus on goals
  • Worked in a Logistics (TMS/WMS), SaaS or Technology focused business
  • Hybrid database environment
  • Cyber-Sec governance, familiar with ISO-27001 and including OWASP frameworks included into development
  • Used ITIL or similar to manage incident processes

The Process

  • Meet with our GM and some of the team, complete a technical test and a final meeting with a Representative from our board
