We are seeking a Head of Finance - Commercial to drive business performance, growth, and transformation for our Endeavour Retail Merchandising business, supporting retail Brand strategies with revenue of over $10Bn.

Reporting into the General Manager, Retail Finance and partnering with the Director of Merchandising Endeavour (Exco member), this role demands a strong commercial mindset and will also provide strategic finance support to our Retail Merchandise team.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:

With your deep Retail Commercial Finance experience you'll have;

  • Experience in the financial elements of a buying or category management function.
  • Proven ability to manage near-term trading performance, specifically understanding the key drivers of category, event, and initiative performance and providing recommendations to improve performance.
  • Experience partnering with the Merchandise team to improve GMROI (Gross Margin Return on Inventory) and range optimisation.
  • Experience driving working capital efficiencies through supplier terms and inventory management.
  • Experience partnering with teams managing pricing and promotions, including preventing ‘deal funding leakage’.
  • Experience providing detailed analysis/recommendations on supplier performance and negotiations.
  • Proven ability to build strong partnerships with numerous Senior Leaders, acting as a trusted 'commercial advisor' over and above reporting & insights.
  • The ability to step out of the daily trading activities to provide high-level strategic support for longer-term Merchandise initiatives and commercial direction
  • Strong presentation and storyboarding skills to communicate complex financial information to a broad audience, up to the Executive level, simplifying the complex and delivering action-oriented takeaways.
  • Experience guiding businesses through change (particularly given next year will be full of it), specifically adapting to new pricing strategies, new promotional activities, and range optimisation.
  •  A track record of strengthening and rationalizing reporting (reducing manual effort) and partnering with Advanced Analytics to provide deeper insights and drive new growth opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive and ensure strong commercial governance and financial oversight is embedded in key merchandise business processes.

Qualifications

Now let’s talk about you: 

  • Minimum of 12+ years relevant experience with CA/CPA Qualification
  • Previous management experience of a multi-functional team and/or experience in the retail or FMCG sectors desirable
  • Strong presentation and storyboarding skills and able to communicate complex financial information to a broad audience; able to make the complex simple
  • Ability to prioritise team efforts to support business requirements

Desirable

  • Advanced experience using financial systems in a commercial environment e.g. Excel, Powerpoint,
  • Advanced leadership, coaching, mentoring and development skills
  • Advanced time management skills
  • Advanced Advanced analytical and problem solving skills
