Role Information:
As the business continues to scale across content, licensing, consumer products, and brand extensions, we are seeking a Finance Director / Head of Finance to build and lead the financial function, providing strategic, commercial, and operational financial leadership. This role owns the end-to-end finance function and acts as a strategic partner to the founders and leadership team. You will design financial systems, reporting, controls, and forecasting models that support multiple IPs, complex production budgets, and diversified revenue streams, while enabling data-driven decision-making across the studio.
You will balance high-level commercial strategy with hands-on execution, building a fit-for-scale finance operation in a creative, fast-moving environment.
Key responsibilities:
Financial Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and own Glitch’s financial strategy, aligned to growth plans and long-term IP portfolio strategy.
- Act as a trusted advisor to founders and leadership on financial performance, risk, and investment decisions.
- Build and lead the finance team over time (commercial finance, production finance, accounting, FP&A).
Multi-IP Financial Management
- Own P&L performance across multiple IPs, projects, and business lines.
- Establish profitability frameworks per IP (production costs, marketing, overhead allocation, revenue attribution).
- Create greenlight models for major initiatives.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning
- Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecasts across brand, consumer products, events and sales.
- Build long-range financial models (3–5 year outlooks).
- Partner with Production, Brand, Marketing, and Consumer Products on budget ownership and tracking.
Production & Content Finance
- Oversee production budgets from development through delivery.
- Implement cost controls, variance analysis, and forecasting for productions.
- Ensure accurate tracking of internal and external production spend.
Revenue & Commercial Finance
- Oversee financial tracking of platform monetisation, advertising, licensing, merchandise, sponsorships, and partnerships.
- Develop revenue forecasting models by IP and channel.
- Support deal evaluation, pricing models, and commercial negotiations.
Reporting & Insights
- Deliver clear monthly management reporting (studio-level and IP-level).
- Create dashboards for profitability, cashflow, burn rate, and ROI.
- Translate complex financial data into simple, actionable insights.
Cashflow & Working Capital
- Own cashflow forecasting and liquidity management.
- Ensure the business can sustainably fund production pipelines and growth investments.
Accounting, Compliance & Governance
- Oversee accounting operations, tax, statutory reporting, and audit compliance.
- Alongside the company’s legal counsel, direct the structuring of the company group for long term financial scalability and asset ownership.
- Ensure strong internal controls and financial governance.
- Manage external advisors (accountants, auditors, tax).
Systems & Process Improvement
- Implement scalable finance systems, tools, and workflows.
- Improve automation, accuracy, and speed of reporting.
What we’re looking for:
- Senior finance leader experience (Finance Director, Head of Finance, or equivalent).
- Experience in media, entertainment, content production, gaming, digital platforms, or creative industries strongly preferred.
- Proven experience managing multi-project or multi-IP financial environments.
- Strong FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, and commercial modelling capability.
- Comfortable operating in a founder-led, fast-growth business.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Bonus Skills:
- Experience with IP-led businesses or royalties/licensing models.
- Exposure to consumer products, merchandise, or brand partnerships.
- Experience scaling finance teams and systems.
- An understanding or experience with the arts, animation, gaming, and/or ‘internet nerd’ culture.
- Engaging personality and willingness to learn.
- Positive, go-getter attitude with a passion for making things.
What we offer:
- Play a key role in shaping the financial future of a globally recognised independent studio.
- A flexible work arrangement and schedule, with options for work from home and flexi-hours.
- A casual and fun office environment where individual input is valued.
- Regular work functions and free entry to conventions and events.
- Close to public transport in the heart of Parramatta CBD.
- Paid for gym memberships.
- Regular company breakfasts/lunches.
- A diverse team that values independent input and career development.
