About The Role:

The Head of HR, ANZ is a core member of the ANZ Leadership Team and the APAC People Leadership Team. The role partners the ANZ Managing Director and leadership team to translate business strategy into a focused people agenda that strengthens organisational performance, leadership capability and employee experience across Australia and New Zealand.

This role owns the end-to-end ANZ people strategy, ensuring that the organisation, workforce, capabilities and culture are positioned to deliver sustainable growth. It combines strategic leadership with disciplined execution across organisation design, workforce planning, talent, reward, employee relations, change and inclusion.

The Head of HR will lead and develop the ANZ People team, operate with a high degree of autonomy and connect the market effectively to APAC and global priorities. Success requires strong commercial judgement, trusted influence with senior leaders, confidence in navigating complexity and close partnership with regional People colleagues and Centres of Expertise.

Primary Responsibilities and Accountability:

  • Act as trusted adviser to the ANZ Managing Director and Leadership Team, bringing an independent people perspective to business strategy, decisions and performance.
  • Create and deliver an integrated ANZ People Plan aligned with market, APAC and global priorities, with clear outcomes, measures and accountability.
  • Shape organisation design, operating models and workforce plans to improve agility, productivity and readiness for growth across Australia and New Zealand.
  • Lead the people dimension of transformation and change, including clear stakeholder engagement, organisational impact assessment, implementation and sustained adoption.
  • Strengthen leadership effectiveness through coaching, challenge, team development and clear accountability for culture, behaviour and performance.
  • Build a strong talent and succession pipeline for critical roles; improve internal mobility, capability development and retention of high-impact talent.
  • Use workforce insights and people data to identify risks, test assumptions, shape priorities and measure the business impact of people interventions.
  • Oversee annual performance, talent, reward and workforce planning cycles, ensuring quality decisions, differentiation and alignment with business and governance requirements.
  • Set the market strategy for employee engagement, inclusion, wellbeing and culture, translating feedback into focused action and visible leadership ownership.
  • Provide senior counsel on complex employee relations and industrial relations matters, balancing pace, fairness, legal compliance, risk and Dyson values.
  • Maintain strong people governance across policy, employment practice, organisational change and regulatory obligations in both Australia and New Zealand.
  • Partner closely with APAC People leaders and global Centres of Expertise across talent acquisition, talent and learning, reward, people operations and employee relations to land scalable solutions in market.
  • Lead, prioritise and develop the ANZ People team, creating a high-performing, connected function with strong business intimacy and disciplined delivery.
  • Contribute actively to the APAC people agenda, sharing ANZ insight and best practice while championing enterprise-wide initiatives and consistent standards.
  • Challenge legacy practices, simplify where possible and use digital tools and automation to improve employee experience, decision quality and People team effectiveness.

About You:
  • Senior HR leadership experience in a complex, fast-paced consumer, retail, technology or similarly dynamic business.
  • Proven partnership with a Managing Director and senior leadership team, with evidence of influencing business strategy and outcomes.
  • Strong track record in organisation design, workforce planning, transformation, talent and succession.
  • Deep knowledge of Australian employment law and employee relations; practical understanding of the New Zealand employment environment is highly desirable.
  • Experience managing complex employee and industrial relations matters and advising on organisational change.
  • Experience leading and developing a market People team within a matrixed regional and global model.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including the ability to connect workforce choices to growth, productivity, cost and risk.
  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification in Human Resources, business or a related discipline.
  • Enterprise leadership: thinks beyond the HR function and acts in the best interests of the ANZ and wider Dyson business.
  • Commercial judgement: understands business drivers and makes pragmatic, evidence-based people decisions.
  • Influence and courage: builds trust quickly, speaks with clarity and constructively challenges senior leaders.
  • Transformation leadership: navigates ambiguity, creates momentum and turns strategic intent into sustained change.
  • Talent orientation: raises the bar on leadership, capability, succession and performance.
  • Data-led thinking: uses insight, external context and sound judgement to diagnose issues and prioritise action.
  • Inclusive leadership: listens well, values different perspectives and creates the conditions for people to perform and contribute.
  • Execution discipline: balances strategic depth with pace, prioritisation, attention to detail and personal accountability.
  • Clear communication: communicates complex matters succinctly and credibly across leadership, employee and regional audiences.
  • Digital mindset: embraces technology, automation and AI to improve insight, simplicity and employee experience.
