Tracksuit is a brand tracking platform trusted by 1,000+ brands across the world. We make brand data accessible, affordable, and beautifully simple — so brand believers can prove the value of brand and invest with confidence. We're a high growth SaaS company with offices in Auckland, Sydney, New York and London.

We're committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. If you think you'd be amazing in this role but don't meet every requirement listed, please apply anyway — we'd love to hear your story.

This role

We're hiring a Head of Legal to own and evolve our legal function as we scale.

You'll be the sole counsel for a fast paced growth company, reporting to our COO and working across every part of the business.

The job is to take the legal foundations that are in place and keep raising the bar as we scale. If you're the kind of lawyer who finds the path to "yes" rather than defaulting to "no," who'd rather roll up their sleeves than hide behind process, and who gets energy from ambiguity and pace — keep reading.

What you'll actually do

  • Own commercial contracting. Draft, negotiate, and close customer agreements, partnership deals, and vendor contracts across multiple jurisdictions. You'll be the legal partner our sales team wants in the room, someone who knows how to protect the business without slowing it down. You'll continue to evolve the templates and playbooks that let everyone move fast.
  • Fund raising and M&A: Own the legal workstream for fundraises, acquisitions and other strategic transactions, from due diligence through to close.
  • Advise on product and technology matters. Be the legal voice in product decisions — new products and features, data licensing, IP protection, AI and emerging tech considerations. You'll be working closely with the teams building the product, not sitting in a silo.
  • Keep us on the right side of things. You'll make sure we're doing the right things across our markets — data privacy, regulatory requirements and good governance.
  • ESOP: Manage our employee share option program across multiple jurisdictions, keeping it compliant and well-run.
  • Evolve our legal operations. Continue to evolve the systems, processes, and tools (yes, especially AI) that let a lean legal function punch well above its weight.
  • Be a strategic partner to leadership. Advise the exec team and Board on risk, governance, corporate structure and strategic transactions as we continue to scale internationally.

You'll thrive here if you

  • You're a business enabler who happens to be a great lawyer. You don't use the law as a shield — you use it to clear the path for growth. Your default is "here's how we can do this" not "here's why we can't."
  • You've scaled before. You've been an early legal hire in a fast-growing company or you've joined a legal function mid-flight and helped make it faster, smarter and more impactful. You know what "good enough for now" looks like and when to invest in something more robust.
  • You're comfortable with ambiguity. Scaling a global SaaS business means things change fast. You make smart calls with imperfect information and don't need every variable locked down before you move.
  • You're a brilliant communicator. You translate complex legal positions into plain language that helps people make better decisions. No jargon for the sake of it.
  • You zoom in and zoom out. One moment you're deep in a contract redline, the next you're shaping board governance. You're comfortable at both altitudes.

What we're looking for

  • 8+ years' experience, ideally a mix of top tier firm and in house roles in high growth tech or SaaS.
  • Broad commercial legal expertise — contracts, privacy, IP, and general corporate.
  • Experience in multi-jurisdiction environments — particularly NZ, AU, US, or UK.
  • A systems-builder mindset — you create templates, playbooks, and processes that scale.
  • Comfort with technology — you understand SaaS and data. You're curious about AI tools, you experiment and you see them as a lever for doing better legal work.
  • Startup or scale-up DNA — you know the difference between "scalable speed" and "corporate process."

Why you'll love it here

  • ESOP for everyone: Every Trackstar has a share in our success — from day one.
  • L&D budget: 1000 per year to spend on your own learning and development — plus heaps of internal opportunities for growth.
  • Flexible/hybrid working: We trust you to do your best work
  • Epic Tracksuit merch: You'll get your own Tracksuit. Obviously.
  • High care, high performance culture: Big ambitions, real support. We push each other to be brilliant and look after each other while we do it.
  • Genuine impact: You won't be a cog. You'll build something from the ground up at a company that's changing how the world thinks about brand.
