The Opportunity


We are in an exciting stage of growth and have a one-of-a-kind opportunity for a Head of Operations to join our operational leadership team. This is a role that will have direct accountability for leading a high performing team of engineers and specialists focused on the ongoing support of our data centre operations. 

What You Wil do

  • As the Head of Operations, you will lead the Macquarie Data Centres' operations, ensuring seamless, secure, and compliant facility management.
  • Operations Management: Lead teams in change management, incident response, supplier performance, risk management, and the efficient operation of engineering systems across all facilities.
  • Resource and Budget Management: Manage Opex and Capex budgets and ensure asset lifecycle planning and operational efficiency.
  • Security and Compliance: Ensure the physical security and regulatory compliance of facilities, including environmental sustainability, safety, and contractor management.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a diverse team, overseeing performance, development, and operational excellence across engineering, facility management, and provisioning teams.
  • -Customer Engagement: Attend key customer meetings, audits, and forums to ensure customer satisfaction and operational alignment with business goals.
  • -Automation and Continuous Improvement: Drive automation initiatives and improve operational processes for enhanced efficiency and service delivery.
  • Incident and Risk Management: Manage incident resolution, problem-solving, and capacity planning, ensuring minimal disruption and continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Projects: Contribute to new data centre construction, oversee Capex projects, and ensure smooth integration of new facilities and systems.
  • The role will be mainly located at Macquarie Park Data Centre Campus, Sydney with some travel interstate required to other Data Centre locations as needed,

Ideal Skills and Experience

  • Relevant technical Qualification– Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or Information Science
  • Telecommunications and hosting environment and product knowledge
  • Exposure to, or certified in ITIL and\or project management (PRINCE2 or PMBOK)
  • 10+ years' experience in the IT&T and Data Centre, Hosted Infrastructure industry including leading teams.
  • Technical understanding of Critical Data Centre Environments, Electrical, HVAC, Fire, Monitoring and management systems.
  • Experience working with external customers in a competitive vendor environment
  • Operational / Process Improvement - developing a team to operational maturity
