Job Description

We have created a new Head of People role within the Qantas Corporate People Leadership Team to support our Finance and Group Risk & Services portfolio, reporting to the Executive Manager, People, Corporate. This role is responsible for leading and delivering the full spectrum of People related activity across our Finance and Group Risk & Services teams. In this role, you will work with a dedicated team of HR professionals and partner closely with executive leadership teams to shape and deliver the People strategy - translating key initiatives into tangible outcomes across the organisation. This includes supporting business transformation and delivering key programs of work across the employee lifecycle.

As Head of People, you will bring proven experience navigating complex environments, building high‑performance cultures, and ensuring strong alignment between business objectives and People priorities.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • 12+ years’ experience and expert knowledge across the field of Human Resources with experience in a Senior Human Resources Leadership role, ideally within a Corporate, Finance, or Risk environment.
  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or related fields.
  • Proven expertise in Human Resources business partnering, with a track record of formulating and executing strategies, across Corporate Groups within a complex organisation
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Experience as a trusted strategic advisor adept at building effective relationships with senior executive leadership teams, with a history of driving collaboration and using influence to shape the business direction.
  • Well versed in navigating matrix organisational structures, skilled at driving change and transformation.
  • Experience as a key member of a Senior Leadership team working with alignment and collaboratively driving initiatives within area of responsibility and more broadly across the leadership team
  • Collaborative and responsive leadership style, demonstrating ownership, accountability and a commitment to coaching and developing others.
