We’re looking for a Head of Public Policy, Asia-Pacific (APAC), to join Snap Inc.!

What you’ll do:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of public policy professionals across the APAC region, including team members in India and Australia.

  • Serve as a key member of both Snap’s APAC leadership team and the Global Public Policy senior leadership team, shaping and informing company strategy. 

  • Develop and execute a public policy strategy for the region that proactively identifies and addresses key legislative and regulatory issues impacting Snap.

  • Establish and deepen relationships with key policymakers, regulators, trade associations, and non-governmental organizations to advocate for Snap's interests and shape policy outcomes.

  • Work closely with the Vice President of Global Public Policy, as well as internal legal and business teams, to analyze legislative initiatives, advise on risks and opportunities, and craft official company positions and messaging.

  • Collaborate with the legal team to manage and respond to regulatory inquiries across APAC on key issues like online safety and privacy.

  • Partner with the Communications team to help them appropriately respond to media inquiries, by providing the correct policy narrative that best represents Snap Inc. Serve as Snap’s media spokesperson on issues related to policy, safety and privacy, where appropriate.

  • Manage relationships with external consultants and partners to support and enhance Snap's policy objectives in the region.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • A sophisticated understanding of the policy and political landscape across the APAC region, with a proven track record of navigating complex legislative and regulatory issues.

  • A proven ability for shaping, and working with, government officials, NGOs, coalitions and other partner groups. Established policy networks in India and/or Australia are highly preferred, while relationships in other APAC countries, such as Singapore, are also valued.

  • The ability to anticipate policy trends, identify risks and opportunities for the business, and develop proactive strategies to shape the regulatory environment.

  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills and sound political judgment, with a demonstrated ability to articulate complex policy positions, build coalitions, and effectively advocate for the company, even with critics and opponents.

  • A proven ability to act as a strategic partner to business leaders, translating company priorities into actionable policy objectives and aligning the policy team's focus accordingly.

  • The ability to make thoughtful, well-reasoned decisions and provide clear, actionable counsel in fast-moving and ambiguous situations.

  • Ability to work independently and as a self-starter in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.

  • Kindness, creativity, intelligence and an instinctual appreciation for Snapchat, and Snap’s mission.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in relevant field

  • 10 years of relevant policy / advocacy experience in APAC
