About the role:

The Head of Sales & Industry Growth at Tyro plays a vital role in driving our sales strategy and fostering strategic relationships with software and referral partners to drive growth across key industry verticals. Responsible for developing and executing sales plans to realise revenue growth, expand market presence, and build strong relationships with key growth partners.

The Head of Sales & Industry Growth will lead the sales and partnerships team, collaborate with internal stakeholders, and engage with external partners to create value and achieve Tyro's strategic objectives.

What you'll do:

Sales Strategy and Execution

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy that aligns with the company’s business goals and maximises revenue opportunities, across key customer segment and verticals. 

  • Develop a high performing sales team, including associated sales processes, ensuring the team meets or exceeds sales targets and performance metrics.

  • Drive new business acquisition through targeted strategies, lead generation initiatives, and proactive engagement with prospective clients.

  • Manage complex RFP (Request for Proposal) processes, including coordination of cross-functional input, proposal development, and timely submission to secure new business opportunities.

  • Analyse market trends, customer insights, and competitive landscape to inform sales strategies and identify growth opportunities.

  • Monitor and manage sales performance to ensure achievement of new business sales results, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.

  • Establish sales forecasts, budgets, and performance targets to drive accountability and focus across the Sales & Industry Growth team.

Partnership Development and Management

  • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships that enhance the company’s market presence and drive revenue growth across current and new industry verticals, and for the company.

  • Activate strategic partners to growth lead volume across key verticals.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment between sales initiatives and partnership objectives.

  • Negotiate and manage partnership agreements, ensuring all parties meet their commitments and achieve mutual goals.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with Marketing, Strategic Account Management, Product Development, and Customer Support teams to align sales strategies with customer needs and market trends.

  • Engage with external partners and stakeholders to build strong relationships and identify opportunities for collaboration.

  • Foster a culture of teamwork and communication, collaboration and innovation within the Sales & Industry Growth team and across the Tyro.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure sales effectiveness and partnership success.

  • Lead regular performance reviews to assess sales performance, providing actionable insights and recommendations for improvement.

  • Report on sales and partnership performance to senior leadership, highlighting successes, challenges, and areas for growth.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing sales team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, providing coaching and support to enhance team effectiveness.

  • Ensure team members have access to professional development opportunities and resources needed to succeed.

Other Duties

  • Monitor legal, regulatory changes and industry trends; prepare briefing papers and/or training programs for the account management function, XLT and Board, as required.

  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, completing mandatory training within specified timeframes.

  • Model positive behaviours and contribute to a strong company culture focused on collaboration and success.

Performance Indicators:

  • Growth in sales revenue, new business acquisition, and market share.

  • Effectiveness of sales strategies measured by lead generation, conversion rates, and customer acquisition.

  • Successful management and outcomes of complex RFP processes, including win rates and proposal quality.

  • Achievement of new business sales targets and consistent improvement in sales performance metrics.

  • Success of strategic partnerships in driving mutual growth and enhancing market presence.

  • Quality, consistency, and scalability of sales processes and communications.

  • Timeliness, accuracy, and insightfulness of sales and performance reporting.

  • Consistent alignment with company values and code of conduct.

What you'll bring:

  • Proven experience in sales leadership roles, with a strong background in strategic planning and execution.

  • At least 10+ years' experience leading and managing new business sales teams, with a demonstrated ability to drive growth and achieve revenue targets.

  • Experience managing complex RFP processes.

  • A strong track record delivering results of hitting revenue targets and new logos in the Payments, Fintech or SaaS space.

  • A demonstrated track record of driving revenue growth and building successful partnerships.

  • A strong understanding of sales processes, market dynamics, and customer relationship management.

  • Proficiency in performance analysis, reporting, and market insights.

  • The ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.

  • Strategic thinking with the capability to develop and execute innovative sales strategies.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
