Our Team:
Air Combat Systems Program Office (ACSPO) is the acquisition and sustainment management organisation responsible for governing, supporting, and assuring the Australian F 35A Lightning II capability within the Aerospace Combat Systems Branch. It delivers asset management, project management, financial management, engineering services, and business management for the CAF30 (F-35A Lightning II Sustainment) Product and Project AIR06000 Phase 2A/B, Phase 2C, and Phase 6.
The organisation comprises an integrated workforce of around 100 ADF, APS, and above the line contractor personnel based primarily at RAAF Williamtown, supported by approximately 50 additional personnel, including JPO Cooperative Program Partner members, Reservists, embedded staff, and below the line contractors, located across Australia and the United States.
About the Role:
The Information Systems Analyst will work under limited direction to perform and deliver moderately complex information systems and Engineering support activities within an integrated workforce.
The role supports operational and sustainment outcomes for the F‑35A air system by applying established technical, professional and information systems management practices.
You will engage with stakeholders across Defence, industry and partner organisations, building strong working relationships and acting as a central point of contact for operations and ICT‑related enquiries.
The position requires the ability to manage schedules, resources, risk and deliverables while contributing to the design, implementation and sustainment of ICT infrastructure supporting mission planning, operational effectiveness and secure communications capabilities.
This full-time position is based at Williamtown, near Newcastle.
What’s Involved:
- Deliver moderately complex information systems and engineering support under limited direction within an integrated workforce.
- Act as a key point of contact for operations and ICT enquiries, building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Manage schedules, risks, resources and budgets in line with organisational and governance requirements.
- Apply established engineering and information systems management practices and support these through clear, accurate documentation.
- Support and manage ICT and minor engineering products and inputs aligned to organisational standards and the complexity of the F‑35A air system.
- Contribute to the definition, design, integration and sustainment of ICT infrastructure supporting F‑35 mission planning, operations and COMSEC capabilities.
- Support planning and integration of current and future F‑35 capability milestones, including software and AV block upgrades.
- Coordinate with Defence, industry, system integrator, the F‑35A Joint Program Office and partner nations to resolve information systems technical issues and support sustainment outcomes.
Who we’re Looking For:
We are seeking a motivated and collaborative information systems professional who is comfortable working in a complex, fast paced environment. You will be proactive, detail‑oriented and capable of managing competing priorities while maintaining strong stakeholder engagement. Experience in Defence capability programs or similarly regulated environments will be highly regarded.
You’ll Need:
- Demonstrated experience or strong foundational knowledge in information systems, ICT infrastructure or engineering support roles.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret performance data and support informed decision‑making.
- The ability to produce high‑quality technical documentation and communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to deliver tasks on time and provide clear progress reporting to project stakeholders
- Desirable
- Relevant experience or capability in mission planning, operations, secure communications and supporting infrastructure.
- An understanding of Defence frameworks and compliance requirements, including Acquisition and Sustainment Procurement Reform (ASPR), ERP and National Defence Strategy (NDS) obligations.
