 The IT Infrastructure team at Mako builds and runs the core technology that supports the firm’s operations. The team works together to design and maintain a reliable, low-latency platform that the business depends on every day. 

The Infrastructure Engineer will work closely with the global technology team, supporting and maintaining high-availability network and Linux environments that underpin real-time trading operations. This role offers the opportunity to build deep hands-on experience across networking, automation, and systems engineering while contributing to a fast-paced, high-performance infrastructure in a collaborative environment. 

What you’ll be involved in:

  • Designing, testing, implementing, optimisingmonitoring and maintaining the Linux server and workstation environments 
  • Supporting a real-time, latency-sensitive trading operation spread across multiple global sites 
  • Disaster recovery, business continuity and high availability engineering 
  • Installation, racking, and cabling of new servers, network switches, and other data center hardware according to best practices. 
  • Coordinating with vendors for hardware deliveries, returns (RMAs), and maintenance. 
  • Troubleshooting and solving faults in both hardware and software 
  • Planning and engineering for capacity, disaster recovery, business continuity, and high availability 

What we need from you:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • An excellent understanding of Linux 
  • Experience with automating processes with an Infrastructure-as-Code mindset 
  • An open-minded, innovative approach with the initiative to improve systems 
  • Keen interest in the details of systems engineering within a multi-vendor environment 
  • A can-do attitude to see issues through to resolution 
  • The ability to thrive in a high-pressure, dynamic environment 
  • A mindset that thrives on owning the full infrastructure lifecycle 
  • A genuine passion for technology that extends beyond the workplace. You actively keep up with the latest trends and are constantly looking for new tools and techniques to improve your craft.
  • Familiarity with automated OS and hardware provisioning tools
