The Injury Management Support Specialist plays a key strategic role in helping the business achieve it’s injury management and return-to-work goals.

The Injury Management Support Specialist is responsible for providing expert advice and coaching to the Claims teams to support optimal recovery and return to work outcomes for injured workers and employers. The Injury Management Support Specialist is a subject matter expert in relation to workplace injury management practices. This role supports the Injury teams to work strategically to identify opportunities and deliver assurance and continuous improvement initiatives that improve RTW and scheme outcomes, meets legislative requirements and helps to uplift Claims team’s capability and growth.

As a subject matter expert in workplace injury management, you’ll use your knowledge and insight into industry trends to inform frameworks, lead improvement projects and partner with leaders and specialists in the organisation to drive high quality return-to-work outcomes at scale.

This will be a full-time, 18-month contract/secondment position based in the Sydney or Newcastle office, with flexibility to work from home up to 3 days per week.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide specialist Injury Management coaching, education, training and one on one support to team members to optimise claims outcomes including RTW strategy, medical/injury management strategy and decision making, provider usage and injury management related legislative requirements.
  • Assist with the development, implementation and monitoring of the strategic direction, performance and sustainability of injury management practices across Nominal Insurer.
  • Work directly with claims specialists and their diamond to support the claims teams to achieve performance and KPI targets as set out as part the BU performance framework.
  • Review data and reports for trend analysis on portfolio performance and identification of opportunities for continuous improvement in injury management and RTW related initiatives.

ABOUT YOU

  • Strong injury management capabilities with experience in facilitating strategies to support workers’ recovery at work following an injury/illness
  • 3+ years demonstrated experience working in an injury management role across a variety of medical cases including high risk significant injury claims and complex medical cases
  • Internal candidates must meet EML Grow (Specialist) Level 3 to be eligible.
  • Tertiary studies in Allied Health (Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Exercise Science, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counselling or Social Work) or Nursing strongly desired
  • Advanced communications skills (e.g. motivational interviewing, presenting skills, coaching)
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing innovative initiatives/projects to improve injury management practices and RTW outcomes.
