Job Title:  Internal Controls Manager 

Reports to Global Head of Internal Controls 

PART A: THE JOB 

 

Our Global Risk and Assurance team is looking to recruit exceptional individuals to help us on our journey to mature the Governance, Risk and Controls (“GRC”) function in Belron and across its group of international brands 

 

You will have the unique opportunity to support the business with its global transformation programmes, standardising and improving our ways of working enabled by the latest cloud technology (Oracle Fusion, Salesforce, Workday etc). Our role is to build a Centre of Excellence that advises and assures the business on managing its risk. Your purpose in this role is to: 
 

Advise on best practice financial controls design and operation  

Empower the business to take ownership of their risks and controls  

Assure controls operation through ongoing monitoring and testing programmes  

Develop your skills, experiences, and expertise across other risk subject areas to deliver an exceptional experience for our globally recognised and trusted brands 

ii) PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

WHAT DOES THE JOBHOLDER HAVE TO ACHIEVE? (PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES)    

 

You will support Belron during an exciting period of change, and bring your ideas and experience to help build the new Global Internal Controls Centre of Excellence. 
 
Key responsibilities include: 

  • Define and evolve the controls standards and frameworks, cascading these across the Group  

  • Work with our co-source partners on controls design, test and build activities into future state processes and technologies 

  • Represent the internal controls agenda in various programme and governance forums with senior stakeholders 

  • Work across functions to identify unmitigated risks and issues, and problem solve appropriately 

  • Design and build periodic and ad hoc progress reporting including escalation of risks, issues and decisions needed by stakeholders 

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across countries and functions (e.g. Finance Directors, Country General Managers, Regional Finance Directors etc.) 

  • Continuous controls improvement across the Group through optimisation activities such as better use of technology to increase controls automation 

  • Work with countries to ensure they comply with Belron’s global controls standards and frameworks, providing support to address any deficiencies  

  • Support in the preparation, review and issuance of reports for the Group Executive Committee, Audit Committee and other relevant forums 

  • Develop and execute controls monitoring and testing  

  • Coach, guide and educate senior business stakeholders (and their teams) to ensure they understand controls expectations, understand their responsibilities and apply the necessary frameworks. 

  • Drive delivery of controls activities on time and within agreed budgets 

  • Other ad hoc activities e.g. conducting controls training, producing and reviewing controls deliverables (e.g. RCM / RACMs), supporting ITGCs / IGTCs, implementation and launch of GRC tooling etc. 

  • Think creatively sharing your ideas to help build a “best in class” Global Controls Centre of Excellence

You will help our global brands understand what they are doing well and what they could be doing better. You will build credibility with your stakeholders by drawing insightful conclusions on their business operations.  

 

Your development: As the world becomes increasingly more complex, so do the risks we manage and the knowledge and skills we need to manage them. Working with your line manager, you will identify areas of personal and professional development that supports your growth and meets the needs of the business.

You will collaborate with your team members by providing mutual support, prioritising workloads and developing projects together. 

 

Problem Solving and Agility: We are a new team supporting a successful but complex global business. You will work on complex problems that require proactive problem solving.  

 

Level of Education 

This role requires a good understanding of accounting, and ideally an accounting qualification (e.g. CPA, ACCA or other international equivalent) 

Work Experience 

We are looking for individuals that have experience in practice or industry across governance, risk or compliance 

Knowledge & Skills 

Fluent in English and good communication skills (both written and verbal). Accounting knowledge (for example through audit or finance roles). Experience in transformation programmes is not required but embracing new experiences will help in the absence of this. 

Circumstances 

(distance to office, required start date, ability to travel, work weekends etc.) 

The candidate will be based in the UK which will require regular visits to Egham, Surrey. There will be some modest international travel across our countries required to fulfil the role outlined above.

Belron is the worldwide leader in vehicle glass repair, replacement and recalibration (VGRRR) with more than 10 major brands including Carglass®, Safelite® Autoglass and Autoglass®.
