Position Summary:

This role reports into the Value Stream Lead, International Logistics.  As the International Logistics Manager, you’ll be part of our global logistics team, working collaboratively to optimize our international logistics operations. You’ll have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our global supply chains and contribute to the efficient movement of goods across our various business units, ensuring flawless execution and become the SME in this field. This role is based in our Scoresby, Melbourne offices and offers the option of a hybrid working week. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage an internal team, as well as manage and drive external partners to deliver tactical and strategic outcomes for Thermo Fisher Scientific ANZ
  • Support and manage positive internal stakeholder relationships to achieve outcomes for the international logistics function
  • Analyse and optimize our inbound international logistics operations, identifying key areas for improvement, to drive positive change
  • Evaluate and enhance our supply chain network design to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction
  • Drive and report on the effectiveness of logistics optimization initiatives
  • Lead and grow the capabilities of internal team members including day to day leadership as well as periodical performance management and development planning
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant parties to ensure smooth and efficient operations
  • Stay updated with international trade regulations and ensure compliance with all relevant requirements
  • Lead and drive compliance against purchase order requirements for product shipments
  • Foster the improvement of product flows to enhance the utilization of international air and ocean hubs

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or TAFE Degree related field is desired
  • Proven experience (min 4-6 years’) in optimizing international logistics flows, preferably within a global organization.
  • Strong people leadership and development capabilities for small to medium teams, both onshore and offshore
  • In-depth knowledge of global transportation modes, regulations, and documentation requirements gained across multiple geographies, and/or within multiple industry profiles
  • Proficiency in applying international logistics optimization software tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret sophisticated data and make data-driven decisions
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal – to enable effective collaboration cross-functionally
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and achieve objectives in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and a dedication to delivering high-quality results
  • Experience in the delivery of sustainability practices and their application in international logistics
  • Experience in analyzing and optimizing logistics operations
  • Knowledge of international trade regulations and customs requirements
  • Strong relationship builder and collaborator engagement
  • An individual who is skilled at finding solutions to problems and has a strong ability to analyze
