The Team

Commercial, Financial and Infrastructure (CFI) Advisory

Our CFI team brings together deep expertise in investment strategy, economics, commercial advisory, procurement, actuarial analysis and acquisition, and restructuring and dispute processes. This integrated approach enables us to deliver enhanced strategic and commercial outcomes, optimised financial performance and enhanced sustainability through project development, commercial structuring, productivity and cost improvement, and through complex funding and financing models and transactions.

Our Investment Strategy and Project Development services help for-purpose organisations make confident, high-impact investment decisions - combining rigorous analysis and structured problem-solving with compelling narratives supported by data and visuals. We apply decision-making frameworks and structured thinking to complex challenges, working collaboratively with executives and senior stakeholders to craft investment strategies, business cases, and project briefs that provide clarity and drive action.

Our expertise spans sectors – covering transport, energy, water, housing, health and social services sectors – and all phases of the investment lifecycle. We support clients develop and deliver new assets, improve operational outcomes, optimise portfolios and initiating asset sales or disposals.

Job Description

We are growing our team supporting clients’ strategic planning and decision making for major investments in infrastructure, with opportunities for experienced professionals (Manager to Senior Manager) to join our Investment Strategy and Project Development service areas.

As part of this team:

  • You will support problem identification and structuring, design investment planning approaches, and craft persuasive narratives for senior stakeholders. This includes preparing executive briefs, developing robust business cases, and translating complex analysis into clear visual and written communication.
  • You will be hands-on delivering great results for clients - understanding project needs, working closely with different stakeholders, scoping research and analysis, and developing high-quality reports and presentations.
  • You will support a range of projects across sectors and clients, working alongside experts from different backgrounds and applying the latest thinking in the field.
  • Your day-to-day work might include developing business cases, reports and presentations, managing client interactions, both in writing and in meetings.
  • You will contribute toward shaping the future direction of the business, including identifying opportunities in the market, driving related business development activities, and managing the development of proposals
  • Most importantly, you’ll help us understand the big challenges our clients face, developing smart, modern ways to solve them, and designing high quality deliverables that effectively communicate and build support for the way forward.

You will work with experienced senior team members providing guidance, oversight, and mentorship. While you'll be encouraged to take ownership of our work, and manage delivery teams, there will always be someone providing advice, direction, or a second pair of eyes.

Technically, you will bring a strong combination of:

  • A desire to work on projects that shape Australia’s future and make a difference for the people of Australia.
  • Strong skills in strategic problem-solving and hypothesis-driven thinking with an ability to lead and guide associated research tasks
  • An understanding of investment planning, decision making and assurance processes (in public and or private sector). With an ability to apply this understanding across sectors and investment lifecycle stages
  • Strong verbal, written, visual and data communication skills and ability to craft narratives that influence decisions and resonate effectively with diverse client and internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership of high-quality business cases, executive briefs, presentations and board papers that influence senior decision makers Ability to develop and apply decision-making frameworks (e.g. MCA, cost-benefit, portfolio optimisations to guide investment prioritisation and choices)
  • Ability to oversee and guide investment related financial analysis.
  • Ability to think creatively about the application of AI to our own work and that of our clients
  • Strong existing industry networks and / or a desire to proactively drive client engagement and related business development activities.
  • Minimum 6 years’ relevant experience in infrastructure or related industry, working in advisory, investment strategy and / or Government.
  • Experience in day-to-day management of project delivery teams
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, such as finance, economics, business, commerce, engineering, law or equivalent relevant industry experience.

Recruitment and assessment process

The interview process at Scyne generally involves two to three interviews including a blend of behavioural, technical, and scenario-based questions to assess a candidate's alignment to the role (and other current or future positions), the team, the business, and our values.

As part of the interview process, candidates may be requested to provide three artefacts demonstrating written and visual communication skills, which may include executive briefs, business case extracts, problem-structuring samples, visual slide deck examples, or narratives. You will be asked to walk interviewers through these artefacts and your role in preparing them, and how you might position or present them.
