Capability Life Cycle Manager (CLCM)

The CLCM is integrated into the System Program Office (SPO) and contracted to deliver through-life asset management of Products being supported (PBS). The CLCM performs asset, sustainment and engineering functions to optimise availability and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and minimise risk through life of the PBS. The CLCM works collaboratively via the SPO with Regional Maintenance Centre’s (RMC) to plan maintenance activities and installation of capability upgrades. The CLCM works collaboratively via the SPO with the Design Services Contract (DSC) to plan and execute engineering changes and services. The CLCM delivers functions against the contract scope across the Asset Class Enterprise to support Defence Maritime Capability.

The Opportunity:

KBR is seeking a Junior System Safety Engineer to work within our dynamic CLCM team in support of the Royal Australian Navy’s fleet of Amphibious Combat and Sealift ships.

Under the guidance of the Senior System Safety Engineer, you will contribute to the delivery of safety engineering deliverables and services on the platforms being supported and develop your knowledge and subject matter expertise with a view to obtain Chartered Professional status.

This role is based out of Garden Island, Sydney.

Responsibilities:

  • Under supervision performs Safety Program assurance activities in accordance with the In Service Safety Program (ISSP) plan.
  • Review and develop system safety cases and safety assessments for new and existing capability on the PBS.
  • Under supervision, conduct System Safety design aspects of Engineering change in accordance with the planned schedule.
  • Conduct reviews of design tasking statements, design requirements and design deliverables in accordance with the planned schedule.
  • Participate in working level integrated teams addressing Materiel or Support Systems subject to safety analysis, design, development and implementation.
  • Review the certification of the Materiel or Support System in accordance with the applicable Statutory, Defence Engineering & Technical (E&T) and seaworthiness regulatory frameworks.
  • Report to the Systems Safety Lead to achieve system safety engineering outcomes on the PBS.
  • Contribute to periodic review of System Safety Plans, Procedures and Processes.
  • Contribute to reports and recommendations to the ACSSPO Principal Engineer on risks, issues and mitigations concerning safety.

As the ideal candidate you will bring:

Essential:

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical/Electrical/Systems or a related discipline.
  • Systems safety engineering experience in Defence, Maritime, Oil and Gas, Rail or Aerospace industry sectors.
  • Technical experience in system safety standards (i.e. MIL-STD-882 or similar safety engineering standards).
  • Must be eligible for ITAR clearance of relevant ship systems.
  • Hold, or be eligible for, membership of a recognized professional body and registration as Chartered Engineer.
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience, with average experience ranging from 4 - 6 years.

Desirable:

  • Experience in marine design or maintenance preferred.
  • Experience with Department of Defence design delivery.

All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active Baseline Defence Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a Baseline Clearance or above should apply.
