Role summary
We are looking for a Lead AI Engineer with expertise in implementing data science and AI, especially Generative AI, at an enterprise level. The candidate will be a trusted advisor to our clients, engage with C-suite stakeholders, grow and manage accounts, and guide our clients through their AI journey.
Responsibilities include designing and architecting AI solutions, delivering AI Readiness Audits, developing AI strategies, executing proof-of-concepts (POCs), and integrating successful POCs into our AI products. This role also involves strategic AI consulting, helping clients define and implement effective AI strategies and contributing to our product roadmap. You’ll drive business impact by solving real-world problems with advanced engineering.
Responsibilities and duties
Strategic Client Ownership: Will own the relationship with large accounts and find new accounts.
AI Leadership: Develop and execute AI strategies to achieve business objectives and expand AI capabilities.
AI Engineering: Design, develop, and deploy robust solutions built around machine learning and Generative AI models to drive actionable business outcomes.
Software Engineering: Design, architect, implement, and deploy software solutions, including data integrations required to feed AI solutions.
Generative AI Projects: Lead initiatives utilising cutting-edge Generative AI technologies to unlock new opportunities and solve complex client challenges.
Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of engineers, ensuring project delivery excellence and professional growth.
Work with ambiguity: Adapt to changing toolkits, models, and scopes, and manage volatile POCs and prototypes.
Evolving landscape: Stay aware of the evolving engineering and AI landscape, and find, test, and apply appropriate tools.
Stakeholder management: Manage multiple commercial and technical stakeholders effectively. Able to effectively manage executive stakeholders.
Collaboration: Work closely with the sales, marketing, product, and delivery teams to align AI efforts with overall business objectives.
Research and Innovation: Stay updated on industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to inform AI strategies.
AI Process: Introducing repeatable and scalable AI processes.
Client recommendations: Translate insights from AI projects into actionable recommendations for clients.
Product roadmap: Gather and synthesise customer feedback and market trends to feed back into our product roadmap.
Recruitment: Supporting the expansion of the AI team as we grow.
Ideal candidate
Engineering background: 10+ years in tech engineering positions, including hands-on experience in software and cloud. Exposure to devops, networking or other disciplines are also ideal.
AI Experience: 4+ years of experience in AI/ML, including hands-on experience with Generative AI.
Trusted Advisor: Demonstrated success in acting as a trusted advisor for C-suite stakeholders.
Proven Success: Demonstrated success in leading AI projects and delivering business value, including project estimations and proposals.
Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of AI, data, and technology trends, with the ability to communicate complex solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
Leadership Skills: Experience in mentoring and leading AI teams to achieve organisational goals.
Technical skills: Strong understanding of programming languages such as Python and SQL and AI frameworks and tools like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and LangChain with the ability to engage effectively with technical teams and make informed decisions.
Communication: Ability to distil complex concepts into clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences from technical teams to executives.
Passion for Self-learning: A strong interest in the AI space and experience or interest in developing AI agents.
Nice to haves or wanting to learn on the job
Startup or Scaleup experience: Have experience working in a fast-paced startup or scaleup technology business.
Sales experience: Have experience closing new accounts.
