The Opportunity

We are seeking a senior leader for our established Computational Fluid Mechanics/Dynamics team to drive technical excellence and continued growth across a diverse portfolio of complex projects. Operating across multiple market sectors including Buildings/Defence, Water, and Transport you will lead a high performing group of engineers embedded within an established national Engineering Sciences team.

In this role, you will work closely with both existing and new clients, ensuring high quality, on time delivery while identifying and developing new opportunities for growth. You will champion innovation by exploring new research directions, leveraging our in‑house cloud based high performance computing facility, and utilise a broad suite of advanced software tools. You will also engage with industry through conferences, technical papers, and thought leadership, helping to elevate the team’s profile and attract world class talent.

As a key leader, you will mentor and develop junior engineers, collaborate across disciplines and enhance the team’s capability in both physical and computational modelling. This is an exceptional opportunity to shape the future of our fluid mechanics practice and influence nationally significant projects.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Experience in consulting, ideally with cross‑sector exposure
  • Experience across Buildings/Defence, Water, and Transport projects
  • Post‑graduate qualifications (PhD, Masters, or equivalent) preferred
  • Proven ability and enthusiasm to lead an established engineering team
  • Demonstrated team leadership and people development experience
  • Strong business development capability and comfort working with clients
  • Experience operating in a national engineering leadership capacity
  • Expertise in both physical and computational modelling
  • Experience working with gas and liquid systems, including multiphase flows
  • Proficiency with computational tools, including open-source platforms (e.g., OpenFOAM, FastEDDY) and commercial packages (e.g., ANSYS)
  • Experience with cloud‑based HPC environments
  • Strong coding and scripting abilities to support modelling workflows
  • You must currently hold or be able to obtain a Defence clearance
