Join the Economic Analytical & Technical Services team within the Economic Analysis Department, which provides the trusted data infrastructure, tools, and practices that power research, forecasting, and policy advice across the Economic Group.
About the role
As the Lead Data Analyst, you will lead the development of core parts of EA’s data and code ecosystem – aligning infrastructure investments with strategic priorities, ensuring shared code assets are robust and discoverable, and embedding best practices that scale across teams. You’ll also represent EA in Bank-wide forums on infrastructure and technology, influencing decisions that shape the future of data-driven policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of EA’s core forecasting infrastructure, in line with group strategic priority.
- Maintain and enhance EA’s critical code assets, particularly group-owned R packages, and partner with other sections to prioritise and uplift specific infrastructure, ensuring alignment to EA’s strategic direction and risk appetite.
- Collaborate with EC’s Data Infrastructure Working Group (DIWG) to promote best practices in data and code management, ensuring documentation is maintained, and version control is implemented.
- Lead initiatives that foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement in technical practices across the department.
- Represent EA in cross-departmental forums related to infrastructure, data governance, and technology strategy. Act as the primary point of contact for Bank-wide infrastructure activities, such as application testing and audit processes.
Your background
- Advanced experience in data infrastructure and analytics enablement.
- Expert in R and SQL with experience in R package development, testing, and documentation. Familiarity with reproducible research tools like Shiny and RMarkdown is desirable.
- Experience in Git-based workflows, branching strategies and release management.
- Advanced experience with database and business intelligence concepts.
- Understanding of economic and statistical concepts, and how infrastructure and tooling support forecasting, analysis, and publication workflows.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with a proven ability of influencing across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong understanding of risk, compliance, and audit requirements as they apply to data, code, and infrastructure.
