Job Description

Are you ready to be a part of a high-performance team and drive technological innovation? We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Engineer to join our Technology Delivery team and be a key player in our transformational journey towards Continuous Delivery and an improved customer experience.

About the Role:

As a Lead Engineer, you will provide technical direction and leadership to our delivery team ('Pod') to develop and support Group, Investment, and Retirement products hosted on our Acurity Applications. You will help drive development standards and guidelines, ensuring smooth collaboration across the team. Your role will involve translating business requirements into high-quality, well-engineered technical solutions while fostering a culture of continuous innovation within the broader technology team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Thought Leadership: Provide input and thought leadership into the systems technology roadmap, quality standards, and processes for the platform.
  • Technical Direction: Guide the Pod in delivering technology products that align with business outcomes and the platform roadmap in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Risk Management: Identify and articulate business and technical risks, take action to resolve issues, mitigate risks, and minimize technical debt.
  • Agile Collaboration: Contribute positively to the TAL Continuous Delivery (CD) agile method of working, including breaking down user stories, sizing tasks, and facilitating agile ceremonies.
  • Technical Excellence: Develop technical designs, configure and code changes, perform design and code reviews, and ensure products meet quality standards.
  • Support and Troubleshooting: Provide Level 3 support for the software, troubleshoot production issues, and drive automation and ongoing improvement in work practices.
  • Vendor Management: Assist the Development Manager in managing vendors and support production deployments.

Qualifications

Essential Skills:

  • Educational Background: Qualification in IT or a related field
  • Experience: Over 10 years as a software developer, with at least 5 years of development experience with Acurity
  • Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Superannuation, Investment, and Retirement products
  • Agile Expertise: Proven experience working in an Agile environment and managing iterations.
  • Facilitation Skills: Ability to effectively facilitate meetings, obtain commitment, and resolve issues

Desirable Skills:

  • Advanced Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications
  • Technical Skills: Experience with Acurity Services and Azure Service Integration
  • Industry Experience: Life insurance experience
  • Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with Atlassian Jira and Confluence
  • Testing Skills: Experience with automation testing
