Job Description
As a Lead Engineer – Cloud and API Platform you will be joining our Cloud and API Platform team to help our customers and partners whilst building sustainable digital platforms and leading a market uplift in our adoption of Cloud. Working closely with product owners, senior leaders, partners and other IT teams, you will manage dependencies and remove impediments to effectively deliver project features and on-going operational support.
What will you be responsible for?

Translating business objectives into streams of work, aligning technology and business strategy

Lead TAL developers and engineers for a successful API Gateway implementation.

Providing technical direction to teams and customers, with a view to inform business strategy and deliver technical solutions

Providing advice and thought leadership to ensure successful design and implementation of technology strategies
-
Working closely with Architects to define Architecture patterns and best practices.

Authoring and applying appropriate integration designs to an integration solution

Working with the Cyber team to implement and define security principals.

Working closely with product owners, IT stakeholders and other leaders to deliver initiatives and products utilising agile methods

Developing and maintaining processes and practises essential to quality and traceability

Fostering a culture of ownership, innovation and quality in development activities

Experience in coordinating, planning, and implementing all identified requirements to ensure that they align to strategic objectives and that business results are met

Write programming code to develop solutions to complex problems
-
Ensure health, security, cost-effectiveness, reliability and resilience of cloud applications and APIs through testing

Managing operational requirements with the team including incident management and minor production updates

Empowering and supporting product owners and delivery teams to invest in application health, balancing application and platform ownership responsibilities with delivery

Empowering staff to take accountability for delivery, risk and issue management and assisting the team to improve delivery velocity

Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, third parties and other delivery, infrastructure and operational teams to enable efficient delivery
-
Be a Cloud Evangelist, engaging with developers, architects and senior management to increase awareness and adoption of Cloud across TAL while demonstrating quantifiable business value.
Qualifications
What are we looking for?
-
At least 10 years experience in a Lead Engineer or comparable role, delivering innovative products and continuous improvements to customers

A demonstrable and long-running track record of authoring integration solution designs which meet business objectives and which have been successfully implemented in Production
-
Expertise in authoring the appropriate (business focused) integration design from competing design options
-
Must be able to explain a complex technical issue or process with minimal jargon, in plain language.

Experience in designing and implementing Azure hybrid cloud solutions
-
A strong integration technical background with experience of Azure Integration technologies such as Functions, Service Bus, storage accounts
-
A strong background in the principles of API Management and technical/ experience with Azure API Management
-
Experience in API design and RESTful API standards
-
Experience in designing and implementing different levels of traceability in complex, distributed integration solutions e.g BAM (Business Activity Monitoring), W3C Distributed Trace

Additional technical background with experience of .Net, .Net core, SQL Server, NoSQL.

Strong familiarity with DevOps principles (including automated build and testing) and familiarity with tools such as Azure DevOps

Strong analytical and problem solving skills when debugging and troubleshooting issues in a complex distributed integration environment
