Your primary purpose in this role will be to help leverage Rest’s data capabilities to enable better and more targeted experiences through Rest’s digital channels. The role acts as a conduit and a technical SME bridging the gap between the data and digital platforms. The role will provide technical leadership and implementation capacity designing and implementing technical solutions involving the data, API and digital platforms.
Collaborate with product owners, data scientists, digital experience designers, analysts, and architects to translate business goals into robust technical solutions that deliver measurable digital and data outcomes.
Partner with solution architects to design cloud-native, scalable, and secure digital solutions that enable seamless data flow, advanced analytics, and high-performance digital experiences.
Develop detailed technical solutions for end-to-end solutions spanning data platforms, APIs, and digital experience layers, ensuring interoperability and performance.
Lead the technical implementation of data-driven digital solutions including reporting, analytics, and digital experience enablement across the data, API and digital platforms.
Ensure all technical implementations align with enterprise data, digital architecture, and engineering strategies, adhering to best practices and standards in data governance, integration, and security.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and proactively propose new features, enhancements, and highlight innovation opportunities (e.g. customer 360 enrichment, advanced analytics); assess applicability and propose innovative solutions.
Identify and proactively mitigate risks related to data quality, pipeline performance, integration scalability, and digital platform reliability.
Support effective operational management of in-scope solutions including technical problem-solving, incident resolution, and ongoing system optimisation.
Follow and enforce Rest software engineering standards and best practices including coding standards & guidelines and code review processes to ensure high-quality, well-documented, maintainable code.
Collaborate within agile teams and participate in team planning, estimation, reviews, stand-ups and retrospectives.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Cloud certifications are desirable
Strong experience with data platforms and analytics ecosystems e.g. Snowflake, GCP BigQuery, Google Analytics 4, Personalization Engines, BI tools, and Data Pipeline orchestration.
Proven experience developing and integrating cloud-native digital solutions using AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, CloudFormation/CDK, and related tools.
Background in digital experience engineering, including Mobile App and web development technologies
Hands on experience with CI/CD tools and automation (e.g. Git, GitHub, AWS CodePipeline or similar)
Experience with NodeJS, JavaScript, TypeScript, delivering scalable, cloud-based applications.
Experience delivering cloud-native (AWS) solutions, ideally serverless.
Experience building consumer-facing, data-enabled digital solutions leveraging micro-services patterns.
Familiarity with enterprise data and integration ecosystems, including APIs, real-time data flows, and digital platform interconnectivity.
Proven understanding of QA techniques like code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, TDD
Experience with business and technical requirements analysis
Experience delivering within Agile teams and understanding of Agile values
AWS experience - EventBridge, DynamoDB and RDS, CloudFront, WAF, CloudWatch, SQS, SNS, VPC, EC2, CodePipeline, CodeDeploy, CodeBuild
