Stake is looking for a Lead Front End Engineer to join our team at our HQ in Bondi Junction or work from home, 100% remote from anywhere in Australia or New Zealand.

We’re an Australian investing platform that helps ambitious people confidently grow their wealth. By offering seamless, immersive access to the share markets, we’ve empowered a new wave of investors. Stake has grown fast from a fintech startup into a robust financial services company. Today we have 700,000+ customers and more than A$5 billion under administration.

At Stake, we break barriers in everything we do. Just like our customers, we’re driven by ambition. Our desire for continuous growth is what creates the collaborative and high-performance environment we work in. Though we’re spread around the world, we’re a unified team moving towards a shared vision: to unleash the investor in everyone.

Join us as we continue to reshape the financial industry, inspiring investor confidence and celebrating our wins along the way.

About this role

You will plan, design and deliver a scalable web application enabling Stake to scale. Our developers take ownership, work collaboratively and challenge each other to build best-in-class trading solutions. You will build highly available and maintainable systems and have your say in how to architect solutions to solve customer problems. In particular you will:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop our web frontend engineering team, building a cross functional impact-focused team.
  • Set the architectural direction, foundations and styling of our web platform - which is built in Angular 14+ using modern state management technology.
  • Ensure the platform is performant, scalable and optimised to service our 700,000+ users.
  • Work closely alongside Product Designers, Product Managers and Backend Engineering to deliver beautiful experiences
  • Build systems, teach skills, and foster attitudes across engineering teams that help engineers succeed, increase our product’s quality, and put a smile on our customers’ faces.
  • Live and breathe a customer first mindset. Create a culture and ways of working that put our customers’ voices at the heart of decision-making.

A bit about you

  • 8+ years experience working on frontend technologies
  • Working inside financial technology is preferred (but not a must have)
  • You know how to ship great web products and you’ve done it before.
  • You’ve already led and scaled engineering teams.
  • You’re a proven advocate for web development in fast-moving, fast-growing product organisations.
  • You’re a strong collaborator, comfortable working with cross-functional teams to drive user engagement and business growth.
  • B2C experience is essential, with a great understanding of consumer-facing digital products.
  • Translate requirements between product designers, product managers, backend engineers

At Stake, we’re more interested in your attitude than your resume. If you believe this is a role you want to jump into, please apply and let us know why in your cover letter!
