The role:
- We are seeking a dynamic Lead Software Engineer to drive the design, development, and optimisation of high-quality, scalable applications and systems within our international team. This role involves leading a squad of software and test engineers, ensuring the delivery of robust solutions through clean, efficient, and well-documented code. This role encompasses the full software development lifecycle—from planning and design to deployment, operation, and maintenance—while providing leadership and line management to a globally distributed engineering squad.
Day to day:
- Lead and manage the members of a software engineering squad.
- Providing strong technical leadership and coaching to your team and the department.
- Working in an agile software engineering environment to deliver awesome features that will delight our customers.
- Writing software in an iterative environment using continuous integration and continuous delivery.
- Working in a collaborative environment to design, prove, document, engineer, test, deploy, scale and operate software.
- Contributing technically to ensure design feasibility; approach; usability; architecture; code quality; testability; scalability; and performance.
- Suggesting appropriate technologies, techniques and standards to help deliver our goals.
- Participating in scrum ceremonies to help provide visibility and accountability towards delivery of projects you’re working on.
- Pairing with other team members.
- Supporting and developing other software engineers by providing advice, coaching, mentoring and educational opportunities.
- Working to help ensure homogeneous code contributions from everyone on your team.
- Working with a geographically distributed software engineering team.
- Assisting with driving the adoption of good practices across the department.
- Updating job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and technologies; participating in educational opportunities; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organisations.
Our ideal MyPasser:
- 7+ years of software engineering experience.
- Proven experience in leading a full-stack software engineering team
- Strong skills in software design and documentation
- Deep understanding of software engineering fundamentals
- Expertise in test-driven development (TDD)
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
- Extensive experience with software testing and quality assurance
- Proficiency in technical governance and oversight
- Strong analytical skills for evaluating and interpreting information
- Comprehensive knowledge of software design principles
- Excellent documentation skills for clear and concise technical writing
- Effective teamwork and collaboration skills
- We are language agnostic but our stack is: Java, Kotlin, Angular, React, AWS, Springboot. Rational databases: Postgres, MySql, MS SQL Server, neo4j or Graph database highly desirable.
