This team supports the nib Thrive brand — a plan management business that helps individuals navigate the NDIS. As the Lead Software Engineer, you are responsible for leading a team of software developers with a dedicated focus on a single project or set of related software products.
You are responsible for the analysis, design, development, delivery and support of software applications to meet a range of business needs.
Let’s talk about you
You bring demonstrated experience leading and managing a team of software developers, creating an environment that supports high performance and continuous improvement. You’re confident mentoring and coaching less experienced developers, helping to build capability while fostering collaboration and accountability across the team.
You have proven experience leading the end-to-end delivery of software initiatives, ensuring outcomes are delivered on time and to a high standard. You’re comfortable driving progress, aligning stakeholders, and maintaining momentum across complex projects.
You’ll bring:
Commercial experience building solutions in modern languages (Node.js, Ruby, C#, Java)
Experience with JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular)
Strong web framework experience (e.g. Rails, MVC)
Solid architectural thinking and software engineering principles
Advocate for best practices (automated testing, CI/CD)
Strong commercial acumen with a pragmatic, solution-focused approach
Exposure to cloud platforms, particularly AWS
Experience with ORMs, relational and NoSQL databases
Strong grounding in Agile delivery practices
Degree qualification in relevant IT discipline (preferred)
Experience in micro-services architecture (desired)
Experience writing native JavaScript (desired)
Exposure to development of mobile applications (desired)
