In this six‑month fixed‑term contract role, you’ll lead research for our hardware portfolio spanning masks, devices, accessories, and connected experiences. Your work will help ensure every product decision is grounded in a deep appreciation of user needs and behaviors.

You’ll be part of our Experience Insights team, collaborating closely with engineering, design, and product management to translate research into meaningful impact. While your primary focus will be hardware, your influence will extend to how physical and digital experiences intersect, shaping the broader journey for millions of Resmed customers worldwide.

This is a hybrid role based in Sydney, with a minimum of two days per week in the Bella Vista office and occasional field-based research as required.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead end‑to‑end research strategy across hardware and connected‑experience programs.
  • Design, conduct, and guide a range of research activities from early discovery through concept evaluation.
  • Translate insights into evidence‑based recommendations that inform product, design, and business decisions.
  • Build empathy for users across Resmed by communicating insights through compelling storytelling and collaboration.
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to embed user understanding into product development.
  • Contribute to initiatives that expand the impact of research across Resmed’s portfolio.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of proven experience researching physical products, preferably in medical devices or healthcare technologies.
  • Strong qualitative and mixed‑method research background, with confidence leading in‑person studies.
  • Experience driving research projects from planning through delivery in product development settings.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience collaborating across UX, design, customer, or human‑centered research domains.
  • Availability to attend the Bella Vista office at least two days per week.
  • Ability to travel internationally when required.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in contextual or ethnographic field research.
  • Prior work in healthcare or regulated environments.
  • Mentorship of other researchers or building research capability within teams.
  • Knowledge of market trend and cultural analysis.
  • Exposure to purchase intent or willingness‑to‑pay research.

What Sets You Apart

  • Curious Mindset - You seek to uncover what truly matters to users and turn findings into actionable insights.
  • Collaborative Spirit - You thrive on building relationships across design, engineering, and business teams.
  • Evidence‑Driven Approach - You use data and qualitative rigor to shape informed decisions.
  • Strategic Thinking - You see patterns that connect daily observations to long‑term product vision.
  • Empathy in Action - You bring the voice of the user to life in every conversation.
