Company Description

Founded in the Queensland outback in 1920, Qantas has grown to be Australia’s largest regional, domestic, and international airline. Qantas has a range of subsidiary businesses that support the overall operations of the Group. The Qantas Group’s main business is the transportation of customers and freight using two complementary airline brands — Qantas and Jetstar — operating regional, domestic, and international services.

Job Description

  • Lead the evolution of learning technologies across the Qantas Group through AI and Virtual Reality deployments
  • Balance enterprise LMS ownership with emerging learning technology innovation
  • Full-time, permanent opportunity based at our Mascot Campus

At Qantas, we represent Australia to the world. Our diverse country is known for our spirit, mateship, and can-do attitude. We’re resilient and strong, and work hard to make sure we’ll be right.

As Group Learning & Development accelerates the modernisation of its learning ecosystem, we are seeking a Learning & Development Manager Technology (AI & Immersive Learning) to pioneer the deployment of next-generation learning and development technologies across the Qantas Group.

This role plays a pivotal part in shaping how cutting-edge technology, specifically Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Immersive Technologies (VR/AR/MR) is deployed, governed, administered, and integrated  to support learner‑centred, scalable and future‑focused learning solutions.

As the Learning & Development Manager Technology (AI & Immersive Learning), you will be driving force behind the business application of emerging and existing learning technology systems. While Workday Learning remains a core platform, this role demands an innovative leader who goes well beyond traditional LMS ownership. You will be responsible for administering and optimising Workday Learning, including managing new feature releases, while concurrently spearheading the deployment of AI-enabled learning tools and immersive Virtual Relaity (VR) simulations that reduce training risks, accelerate time to proficiency, and reduce reliance on availability of costly assets.

You will lead requirements discovery, develop business cases for technology investments, test systems, and drive change readiness activities, engaging closely with stakeholders across the business to prove the ROI of advanced learning technologies.

You will have:

  • 5+ years’ experience in learning technology, digital learning, business systems or learning transformation roles within a large, complex organisation
  • Strong experience administering and managing enterprise LMS platforms (ideally Workday Learning)
  • Proven hands-on experience deploying and managing Immersive Technologies (VR/AR/MR) and Artificial Intelligence (GenAI/AI) learning tolls within a corporate environment
  • Experience supporting or leading system releases, testing and change readiness
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Experience leading and developing specialist teams
  • Tertiary qualifications in digital learning, IT, business systems or a related field (desirable)
  • Demonstrated understanding of adult learning principles, the ADDIE methodology, and how to meaningfully integrate AI tools into learning design
