The roleJoin us as Legal Counsel on a 12-month, fixed term, maternity leave cover role where you’ll play a key role in supporting our growth across Australia and New Zealand. Reporting to the Head of Enterprise Risk & Legal you’ll work closely with our C-suite and Directors, manage legal risk, review contracts and fundraising activity, and provide advice on regulation, vendor onboarding, and new product launches.
What you'll be doing- Provide day-to-day legal support across all business areas including product, funding, procurement, finance, marketing, technology, customer resolutions, and sales.
- Advise on ad-hoc legal matters as they arise.
- Monitor regulatory changes and update the Head of Operational Risk, Legal and Compliance.
- Identify and manage legal risks across the business.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements (vendor, technology, partnerships, NDAs).
- Manage customer contracts across Australia and New Zealand.
- Review and draft sales and marketing materials.
- Support legal aspects of funding transactions, including due diligence and document preparation.
- Assist with mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions.
- Provide administrative support for company secretarial services, including managing papers and attending ARC meetings.
- Offer ad hoc assistance for Board meetings.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel.
- Develop and implement legal policies and procedures.
- Prepare and deliver legal training as needed.
- Tertiary qualifications in law and an Australian-qualified lawyer with a current practising certificate.
- 3–5 years PQE gained at a recognised Australian law firm or in-house legal team.
- Strong understanding of contract and corporate law.
- Experience in the financial legal and regulatory environment is preferred.
- Exposure to technology vendor contracts is an advantage.
- High attention to detail when reviewing contracts, with a solid grasp of commercial context.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with strong organisational skills.
- Confident communicator with the maturity to engage with senior executives and Board members.
