About the Job
As part of the small but high performing Global Legal team, your role will be to provide a full and varied range of legal services to our ANZ business including contractual matters, safety issues, property, litigation strategy and execution, intellectual property rights and compliance. The role requires someone to work closely with our leadership and operational teams, providing pragmatic, cost-effective, and timely advice and support. This role reports directly to the Senior Regional Counsel, APAC, and is based at both our Macquarie Park and Sydney CBD offices with flexible hybrid work arrangements (2-3 days/week in the office).
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Provide strategic legal advice and support to all functional groups including Sales, Procurement, Finance, Tax, Treasury, Insurance, Digital and IT
- Support the country business units and leadership teams in the management of day-to-day legal issues in Australia and New Zealand
- Advise on a wide variety of commercial transactions with customers and vendors; draft and negotiate required contractual documentation
- Provide strategic dispute resolution advice and manage external counsel in litigation matters
- Advise on and negotiate agreements to facilitate plant operations, logistics, asset management, real property matters, especially plant development, agreements for lease and leasing matters
- Lead and support transactions including M&A activity, identifying areas of risk and requirements for additional due diligence

What will ensure your success:
- Law degree plus a practising certificate from an Australian jurisdiction
- Strong post-qualification experience within a reputable law firm
- Some in-house experience would be highly regarded, possibly a client secondment
- Exposure across multiple legal streams
- The ability to work with a wide range of leadership styles and influence across a diverse stakeholder group
- The discipline to work autonomously and independently
- Strong analytical and technical legal skills including drafting, negotiating, risk mitigation and problem resolution
- Credibility and gravitas across legal discussions with senior leaders
