What’s the role?
Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, you will join a high-performing team providing support and advice to Plenti’s business units on a range of legal and compliance issues. Your work will cover a range of areas with a particular focus on the consumer credit and financial services regulatory framework, corporate governance, privacy, dispute resolution and AML/CTF.

What will you be responsible for?
Legal and compliance advice: Provide legal and compliance advice to Plenti’s business units. Includes responding to ad-hoc requests, drafting policy and procedure documents, preparing responses to borrower, investor and shareholder complaints and disputes, and reviewing promotional and marketing materials.
New products and features: Advise on the legal and regulatory implications of new products, services and features Plenti is seeking to introduce. Provide project and product teams with advice and pragmatic solutions with a focus on compliance and customer experience.
Agreements: Draft and review agreements with loan referral partners, funders, commercial partners and service providers. Review and draft standard contract templates for consumer (regulated and unregulated) and commercial borrowers.
Corporate Governance: Contribute to the preparation of reporting to senior management and other stakeholders. Provide corporate governance support to the General Counsel and Company Secretary as required.
Compliance: Work with Plenti’s business to ensure compliance with our legal and regulatory obligations in a range of areas, including investigations into potential incidents. Prepare and present compliance training to the business.
Monitoring of legal & regulatory changes: Engage with upcoming changes in our industry to assist Plenti to prepare for legal and regulatory change.
What will make you successful in this role?
• Tertiary qualifications in law and admission to practice in NSW or another State or Territory
• 2-8 years’ PQE
• Experience providing advice on the legal and regulatory framework applicable to financial services firms including the Corporations Act, Consumer Credit and banking and finance
• Demonstrable experience in delivering technical advice on a range of legal and regulatory matters
• Keen interest in financial services and familiarity with the legal, regulatory and commercial issues faced by businesses operating in that sector
• Eagerness to create an exceptional experience for all stakeholders through empathy, efficiency and commerciality
• Proactive, engaged and eager to learn
• Strong attention to detail and consistent delivery of high-quality work
• Excellent communication and problem solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and autonomously
