Our Missing Team Member
We’re on the lookout for an experienced Machine Learning Engineer to join our growing team, partnering & joining a large Retail programme of work. This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of advanced analytics, cloud engineering, and applied machine learning to drive real-world outcomes.
You’ll be embedded in a multidisciplinary team alongside Data Scientists and Engineers, designing and deploying scalable, production-grade ML pipelines and infrastructure. You’ll also play a key role in shaping engineering practices and mentoring others as we grow capability and maturity in this space.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build robust cloud-native ML pipelines and infrastructure (primarily on GCP)
- Collaborate closely with Data Scientists, ML and Data Engineers to bring models into production
- Lead technical design discussions, produce solution architecture, and ensure scalability and reliability of solutions
- Apply testing frameworks to validate and harden production solutions
- Drive DevOps and MLOps best practices across the engineering community
- Experiment with emerging technologies and pioneer approaches to reduce time to market and improve performance
Practice Development and Growth Enablement
- Contribute to internal capability uplift through mentoring, sharing knowledge, and creating reusable components
- Build scalable IP including ML engineering playbooks, deployment templates, and code libraries
Requirements
- 2-3+ years of commercial software development experience, ideally in production-grade systems
- 1+ years of hands-on Python, SQL, and Linux experience
- Strong experience designing high-throughput batch or streaming pipelines
- Proficient with cloud-native ML tooling (GCP highly preferred), Kubernetes or Docker
- Familiar with ML algorithms, model development workflows, and scaling ML in production
- Experience working with MLOps frameworks and CI/CD pipelines
- A practical, problem-solving mindset - you can break down ambiguity and engineer robust solutions
