Anduril Australia is seeking an experienced and skilled Maintenance Lead to oversee the maintenance operations for our Maritime products (including Robot Submarines!) and associated equipment, on behalf of our Customers. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing maintenance strategies to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and availability of our Maritime Assets. This position requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual who can work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic and high-pressure environment. The successful candidate must be able to balance multiple priorities, adapt to changing requirements, and maintain a strong focus on safety and operational excellence in the Naval defense industry. 

WHAT YOU'LL DO 

  • Shape the Product Lifecycle Maintenance function (build the system!) to integrate with customer Fundamental Inputs to Capability 
  • Recruit and manage a team of skilled technicians and tradespeople to support ongoing Seaworthiness of Autonomous Underwater Vessels (AUVs) including conducting Sea Acceptance Testing (SAT), inspection, refurbishment, modification, upgrade and end of life actions. 
  • Establish forward operating facilities and infrastructure for the conduct of test and maintenance activities. 
  • Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans and schedules for a broad range of Maritime systems, and equipment. 
  • Guide the development of maintenance documentation, including manuals, standard practices and parts catalogues (in a Tech. environment). 
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality control procedures 
  • Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities 
  • Collaborate with the Fleet Engineering team to improve equipment reliability and maintainability 
  • Analyze maintenance data and key metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement 
  • Develop and manage maintenance budgets, including forecasting and cost control 
  • Coordinate with supply chain management to ensure availability of spare parts and materials 
  • Liaise with Maritime customers, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders as required 
  • Implement and maintain a Maintenance Management System (MMS) 
  • Provide stakeholder input into root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement corrective actions 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Suitable trade or engineering qualification 
  • 7-10 years of experience in maintenance management, preferably in the maritime industry or analogous Autonomous Systems  
  • Strong knowledge of Maritime Systems, including propulsion, electrical, and auxiliary systems - experience with subsea/ocean engineering operational procedures and equipment (including AUV launch and recovery systems) is advantageous 
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing maintenance strategies and facilities 
  • Familiarity with relevant Naval standards, regulations and  
  • maintenance management software  
  • Experience with condition-based maintenance and predictive maintenance technologies 
  • Strong leadership and team management skills 
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities 
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Proficiency in project management and budget control 
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles in Australian Defense 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a NV2 Security Clearance 

 

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
