This role is responsible for fostering a culture of technical excellence and leadership, applying talent management and succession planning strategies to develop technical skills and strengthen organizational capability. The Engineering Manager ensures that the team operates as a highly engaged, motivated, and results-driven engineering group.

This role oversees automation initiatives across engineering, including AI-driven efficiencies, software automation, robotics, test tools, and process enhancements. A key focus is on building deep technical expertise within the broader Automation and Algorithms team.

Success in this role requires collaborating closely with engineering technical specialists, systems engineering, verification & validation (V&V), and other engineering disciplines to deliver high-quality automation solutions that meet business needs.

Let’s Talk About Responsibilities

As an Engineering Manager, you will:

  • Manage and develop a highly talented team of multi-disciplined engineers

  • Provide leadership in shaping the technical direction of automation initiatives

  • Develop and maintain the processes, tools, and systems necessary to enable scalable AI/automation solutions

  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures that enhance our ability to deliver high-quality medical devices

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure automation solutions align with project and discipline needs

  • Define and track key metrics, providing regular reports and insights to engineering leadership

  • Champion continuous improvement and drive initiatives that elevate engineering excellence

  • Ensure compliance with quality management systems and other regulatory requirements

  • Invest in team growth by providing development opportunities, coaching, and regular feedback to help team members reach their full potential

  • Support workforce planning efforts to ensure the right resources and expertise are in place

  • Develop and implement engineering frameworks and strategies that align with business goals, while adopting emerging technologies to enhance team capabilities

  • Foster a strong, positive team culture in alignment with the department’s values

Let’s Talk About Qualifications and Experience

Required:

  • Tertiary degree in Engineering

  • Experience in the full product development lifecycle

  • Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience

  • Minimum of 2 years in a people management role

Preferred:

  • Experience in automation and/or AI

  • Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms

  • Experience working in regulated industries

  • Medical device industry experience
