ING Australia’s Integrative Risk Management team is looking to hire a Manager, Credit Risk Modelling to be based in our Sydney office.

As the Manager, Credit Risk Modelling you will play a critical role in developing, analysing, and monitoring business-critical credit risk models across our retail and wholesale portfolios. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders and global teams to ensure models are robust, compliant, and deliver insights that drive strategic decision-making.

We’re looking for a credit risk modeler who is a data-driven professional with strong quantitative skills, technical expertise, and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.

One of the most appealing aspects of working at ING within our modelling centre of excellence is the breadth of exposure you gain. You will get to work across capital, provisioning and credit decisioning models spanning both our retail and wholesale banking portfolios. You will not be fixed in one domain and have the opportunity to shape your own development path and build expertise across multiple domains. You will also get exposure to European regulatory requirements in this role. Our flat organization structure gives you exposure to present to Executives and Board level committees.
It is truly a brilliant place to develop your technical modelling skills as well as your business soft skills / stakeholder skills which are critical to your career.

Ready to make an impact?

What you’ll do

  • Responsible for the end-to-end model life cycle, including development, monitoring and navigating models through independent validations.
  • Develop and maintain regulatory capital and provisioning models in line with Australian, European requirements and internal standards.
  • Develop and maintain credit risk decision models across application, behavioral, early warning, and collections segmentation models.
  • Lead projects to assess the impact of business strategy changes on portfolio risk, profitability, and resilience.
  • Ensure data used for modelling is fit-for-purpose and identify key risk drivers through advanced analytics.
  • Strengthen our governance and model risk management through high quality documentation, controls and audit readiness across the model suite.

What we’re looking for

  • Tertiary qualification in Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in quantitative credit model development within retail, wholesale or regulatory models.
  • Strong technical skills in SAS, R, Python, or SQL.
  • Advanced knowledge of credit risk modelling strategies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present complex findings to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of prudential standards and experience with machine learning or AI in model design.

What’s in it for you?

  • Discounted ING Health Insurance
  • An additional Rest Day to support your wellbeing
  • An IMPACT Day to volunteer on approved sustainability activity
