The opportunity

We are looking for a highly skilled Manager, Customer Insights Development to join our team and help shape how we understand and anticipate customer needs. This is a pivotal role for someone who thrives on turning data into actionable insights and influencing strategic decisions that drive customer-centric outcomes.

About QBE

At QBE, we get to the heart of what matters for our customers. And we do it all with a human touch.

We’re an international insurer with more than 13,000 people working across 26 countries – which means we’re big enough for your ambitions, yet small enough for you to make a real impact. It’s an exciting time. We’re building momentum towards our vision to become the most consistent and innovative risk partner.

What if you could have a positive impact – at work and in the world? As part of the QBE team, you’ll get to spend every day working with people who are passionate, talented and kind.

Your new role

Reporting to the Head of Strategy Development & Customer Insights, you will drive the development of customer insight frameworks and deliver strategic recommendations that inform business priorities. You will combine deep analytical capability with strategic thinking to ensure our customer vision is grounded in evidence and aligned with our growth ambitions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and evolve the customer insights agenda, ensuring robust analysis and interpretation of customer behaviour, market trends, and competitive dynamics, and synthesising complex data into actionable insights.

  • Translate insights into strategic recommendations that shape product, service, and experience design, applying clear commercial and financial logic.

  • Design and deliver compelling narratives and executive-ready materials, using strong communication and storytelling skills to influence decision-making at senior levels.

  • Partner with the rest of the Strategy function and senior leaders across the business to embed customer-centric thinking into enterprise and portfolio strategies, collaborating confidently across teams and priorities.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, presenting high-impact materials that drive engagement.

  • Mentor and guide junior members to deliver high-quality insights and recommendations.

About you

This role suits someone with a strong foundation in customer insights, and a clear ambition to grow into a strategic insights leadership role. You’ll be commercially minded, analytically rigorous, and confident engaging with senior stakeholders. You might come from one of two backgrounds:

  • Customer insights-led: You have deep experience in customer research, analytics or market insights, and have actively contributed to strategy development. You’re comfortable shaping strategic narratives, applying financial logic to recommendations, and influencing decision-making. Ideally, you’ve worked within the insurance industry or at an agency servicing insurance clients.

  • Strategy-led: You’ve built your career in strategy, perhaps within a consultancy, insurer, broker or other large financial services institutions, and have developed strong capability in customer insights. You understand how to apply customer evidence to strategic questions and are confident leading insight-driven thinking across the business, with a sound grasp of financial drivers and commercial impact.

In both cases, you will be:

  • Commercially minded, analytically rigorous, and confident engaging with senior stakeholders.

  • Proactive and growth-oriented, with a track record of delivering impact.

Benefits

We offer a range of benefits to help provide holistic support for your work life, whatever your circumstances. As a QBE employee you will have access to and benefit from:

  • ‘Hybrid Working’ – a mix of working from home and in the office to enhance your work/life balance

  • Life Leave, supporting the life events we all experience, leaving your annual leave for rest

  • 18 weeks’ gender-equal flexible leave for all new parents, including paid super
