We have an exciting opportunity at nbn for a Manager External Reporting. This role sits within the Finance business unit and will report to the Executive Manager External Reporting and Technical Accounting.
A bit about your role
As part of the Corporate Finance team, this role supports the preparation, delivery, and review of NBN Co’s statutory reporting, provides expert technical accounting advice across functions, and is responsible for assisting with the implementation of new accounting standards. With a focus on financial reporting, sustainability reporting and technical accounting, the role delivers key outcomes for both internal and external stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
You’ll assist in preparing and reviewing external financial and shareholder reports - including the Annual Integrated Report, Half Year Report, and assist in implementing and drafting disclosures for the new Sustainability Standards effective from 1 July 2025. This includes coordinating team members and consultants to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
On the technical accounting side, you’ll help maintain NBN Co’s accounting policies, resolve complex transactions, and respond to business queries to appropriately account for transactions and ensure audit-ready reporting. Responsibilities include preparing accounting memos, drafting reports for the Board and Audit & Risk Committee, and supporting stakeholder reviews as needed.
A bit about you
The successful candidate will bring strong external reporting and technical accounting experience, with proven capability in annual report drafting and shaping narrative content that stands up to executive and audit scrutiny. You are known for your attention to detail and your ability to distil complex accounting topics into clear, well‑structured writing that supports confident decision‑making. Exposure to drafting audit and board committee papers will be highly valued, even if you have not presented in those forums directly.
You are a collaborative partner who builds trust through calm expertise, dependable delivery and a proactive mindset. You communicate with clarity, adapt your messaging to your audience, and enjoy working across stakeholders to bring together a single, accurate story. A Big Four background and CA or CPA qualifications are strongly preferred, and you are comfortable working with tools such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint, to deliver polished, high‑quality outputs under firm deadlines.
