- 13‑month fixed‑term role based at our Head Office in Mascot
At Qantas, we understand our priorities and what needs to be delivered, taking the initiative to keep things moving. Navigating through our complex work environment, we bring teams and individuals together to deliver on our customers’ expectations.
Taking ownership is critical. Whether we’re working individually or as a group, we challenge ourselves to make progress and deliver results. We won’t settle for anything less than the best outcome.
As the Manager GSE Technical Projects you’ll be accountable for the planning and delivery of complex Ground Support Equipment programs across the Group. You’ll operate as the technical authority and coordination point between business unit stakeholders and suppliers — ensuring assets are delivered, commissioned, and transitioned into service safely, efficiently, and fit‑for‑purpose. This is a hands‑on role requiring deep technical knowledge of GSE requirements, awareness of market trends, confident decision‑making, and the ability to lead outcomes across multiple stakeholders.
The role translates the operational needs of Group business units into asset solutions that optimises the existing asset base. This includes implementing capital investments and commercial arrangements required for new operational capabilities with internal and external stakeholders.
This role will actively manage supplier deliverables and enable best practices from supplier for procurement of assets through strong supplier relationships to support operational requirements.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Demonstrated hands‑on experience in GSE or complex technical assets, with the credibility to act as a technical authority
- Proven success delivering programs end‑to‑end, from specification and supplier engagement through to commissioning and operational handover
- Strong experience operating within the supplier ecosystem, balancing commercial understanding with firm performance accountability
- 5+ years’ experience in technical project, asset, or program management within asset‑intensive environments
- Well‑developed commercial and analytical capability, including financial tracking, and cost‑based decision‑making
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative and solution-focused approach
- Ability to manage multiple, simultaneous programs of work and priorities resources accordingly
- A delivery‑focused, detail‑driven operating style, with confidence making decisions in time‑critical, ambiguous environments
