Business Bank (BB)
offer a wide range of services and solutions to our small to medium-enterprise customers and our regional and agribusiness customers. Business Lending is responsible for providing market leading products and processes to customers and relationship teams across both the institutional bank and the business bank. Business Lending contributes to around 40% of the Group’s profit annually and accounts for a portfolio of around $110B in lending assets across the Business Bank.

Do work that matters

Reporting into the Head of Judgemental Credit Strategy, Banker Assisted Lending within Business Banking (BB) Business Lending, this role will be accountable for the development and execution of judgemental credit strategy for BB.

On any given day you will

  • Develop analytical credit risk metrics and settings for judgmental credit decisioning, leveraging technology-based tools and data to monitor, measure, and manage credit risk exposures.

  • Develop, manage and monitor credit risk management processes consistent with Risk Management Frameworks and industry best practice.

  • Identify areas for improvement and optimisation of credit risk.

  • Implement credit risk management projects to better manage, measure, and monitor credit risks.

  • Provide insights and analysis to business unit partners and senior management on credit related issues. Provide practical recommendations to ensure credit risks are appropriately managed, measured, and monitored.

  • Work proactively with credit risk data and collections specialists to ensure we have the right data to drive origination activities, inform credit risk settings and manage any downside risks.

  • Monitor risk management policies, methodologies, procedures, limits, and guidelines.

  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of relevant reports for stakeholders.

Your experience looks like

  • Degree in relevant discipline (Economics, Commerce, Business, Statistics, Maths, Actuarial, Finance, Engineering or Sciences).

  • Experience in frontline banking, credit decisioning, policy or process development or improvement.

  • A sound understanding of end to end credit management.

  • Strong Analytics discipline within Banking and Finance with Credit Risk experience.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to lead and influence. Success in the role requires the ability to lead and influence without direct authority.

  • Ability to understand complex problems and take a structured approach using data-driven insights to develop insights, reporting and recommendations.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, including authoring of papers for senior management committees.

  • Experience in R, Python, SAS and SQL will be valued.

  • Working knowledge of regulatory compliance and its impacts on policy, process and systems will be highly regarded.
