About the role:

We're looking for a talented Manager to join our Private Client Tax Advisory team, partnering with clients and senior leaders to provide expert advice on a variety of taxation matters in the Private Client’s, including income tax, capital gains tax, structuring, and tax controversy. This is an opportunity to make a real impact while working on complex and rewarding client engagements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, research and resolve all complex tax issues.

  • Provide advice on complex taxation matters including M&A, structuring, tax planning and ATO disputes.

  • Prepares formally written tax advice, memorandums and reasonably arguable position papers.

  • Advises clients on practical and commercial issues and develops solutions which genuinely add value to the client's business.

  • Share knowledge as a subject matter expert on best practices and industry market trends to actively increase the overall knowledge of the team.

  • Applies tax technical knowledge to provide advice on client activity.

  • Prepares complex deferred tax calculations for large groups, consolidated groups, and MEC groups.

  • Reviews complex income tax returns for individuals, companies, partnerships and trusts.

  • Review work papers and ensure appropriate evidence is documented.

  • Consideration to long term risk on tax matters.

  • Meets with clients and is able to form positive relationships.

  • Manages workflow of the team and communicates with partner on a frequent basis on necessary matters.

  • Reviews work of junior team members.

  • Ensure processing of information into the Firms systems has been properly recorded.

  • Delivers complex tax planning to for clients.

About you:

  • Degree-qualified in Commerce, Accounting, Law or a related discipline.

  • CA, CTA, or equivalent professional qualification completed.

  • 5–7 years' experience within a Professional Services environment.

  • Strong technical tax knowledge and experience providing tax advisory services.

  • Proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing team members.

  • Excellent written communication, analytical, and report-writing skills.

  • Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal communication skills.

  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.

Desirable

  • Master of Tax (MTax), Bachelor of Laws (LLB), or Juris Doctor (JD) qualification.

  • Experience as a Solicitor.
