About the Role
Our Advisory team is looking for a Manager to support our Sustainability Reporting team in Sydney to deliver high‑quality engagements across voluntary and mandatory sustainability reporting, with a strong focus on AASB S2–aligned climate disclosures.
As a client‑facing role, it requires the application of deep technical knowledge of sustainability and climate‑related reporting frameworks, coupled with the ability to lead multi‑phase projects involving diverse stakeholders. They will play a central role in managing complex engagements end‑to‑end, from scoping and planning through to delivery, while coordinating closely with other BDO service lines, including Consulting and Audit.
Key responsibilities:
- Advise clients from a range of sectors on finance and value-creating sustainable reporting solutions.
- Preparation of voluntary and mandatory sustainability reports, with a focus on AASB S2 mandatory climate reporting.
- Execute advisory services, including financial quantification of climate-related risks and opportunities, reporting strategies, gap analysis and roadmap development, transformation etc.
- Work with the team to develop client strategies and execute bespoke solutions to address client reporting opportunities and challenges.
- Support business development through preparing proposals, contributing to pursuits, and helping identify follow‑on opportunities with existing clients.
- Manage and support team members across project engagements, ensuring high‑quality delivery, effective workload allocation, and opportunities for professional development.
- Facilitate workshops, client meetings, and deliver high-impact presentations to senior stakeholders.
- Liaise with senior stakeholders and clients to ensure objectives are met and risks are mitigated.
- Understand and apply the firm’s quality and professional delivery standards required to deliver assurance services.
- Develop externally facing material about the Sustainability Reporting practice (e.g. articles, presentations) and contribute to capability building internally through the development of tools and training where there is capacity.
About You
This position offers a unique opportunity to work across a wide breadth of sustainability reporting and climate strategy work, with significant autonomy, direct client exposure, and hands‑on coaching from Partners. It’s an ideal role for someone looking to take ownership of sustainability reporting projects and lead teams in a rapidly evolving reporting landscape.
- 4–6 years’ experience in climate‑related reporting, sustainability reporting, or financial reporting, with familiarity in applying disclosure frameworks such as AASB S2, ISSB or TCFD.
- Relevant tertiary qualification/s in a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience supporting or leading ASRS/ISSB/TCFD-aligned disclosures and associated governance and assurance requirements.
- Demonstrable experience working with senior and C-Suite stakeholders across a broad range of clients and industries.
- Prior experience with people management and proven ability to lead and guide multiple engagements, ensuring successful client delivery while supporting business development and team operations
- Experience developing financial models that quantify climate related risks and opportunities into financial impacts across revenue, cost, capital expenditure, asset valuation, and enterprise value.
- Knowledge and practical experience in consulting or project management in relation to transformation, strategy, and business operations.
- Clear and effective communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with a self-motivated approach to the role.
