Ankura is a global consulting with offices in 30+ countries. Ankura’s Turnaround and Restructuring (T&R) team in Sydney focusses on transaction advisory, restructuring and insolvency services for clients.  Our clients include mid to large corporates and capital providers. The Australian T&R practice was launched end of 2019, and we have ambitious plans to grow.

Role Overview

The Turnaround & Restructuring team works with healthy, under-performing and distressed companies across a variety of urgent, high impact situations. The team helps our clients navigate periods of change or growth and deliver significant improvement in business performance and enterprise value by providing hands on expert level support and advice.

Our team offers financial, operational, and commercial insights to special situations to deliver significant improvement to both balance sheet and P&L. We aim to create, protect and recover value by understanding the key business and organizational challenges or growth objectives, identifying tailored solutions, and supporting in the implementation of change and restructuring initiatives to drive a successful outcome.

Suitable candidates for this position will have a strong suite of consulting, performance improvement, financial restructuring, and hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work on delivery of a range of advisory engagements – restructuring and debt advisory, strategic advice, M&A, special situations transactions and safe harbour under the guidance of a senior team member.

  • You will also attend to formal restructuring matters as required:

  • Work as part of a team on a variety of trading engagements;

  • You will attend to statutory and compliance requirements, as per the nature of the matter;

  • You will assist with the preparation of reports for clients and statutory bodies; and

  • Manage teams in some engagements.

  • You will assist with pitches for both transaction and restructuring work from time to time.

Requirements

  • Good financial modelling skills, including the ability to build purpose-built models as required by the engagement (such as cash flow forecasting and estimated outcome statements);

  • Advanced written communication and strong report writing skills; and

  • A developed understanding of insolvency, restructuring and accounting principles, including an understanding of statutory requirements required for different types of engagements and strong financial analysis skills

  • Experience in restructuring and insolvency matters including formal appointments. This job level is equivalent to Manager level.

  • Undergraduate degree Commerce / Business with a major in accounting and / or finance.

  • Completed or near completion of CA / CFA

  • Proficiency in Microsoft excel, word, PowerPoint.

  • Experience of mentoring and coaching teams or individuals.
